Anyone up for a guess as to how many pages this thread will run for? 17 for me. I just hope they don't turn us into a bunch of cloggers.

You said that you thought we were a good investment. I'm obviously missing something here as I just cannot see the value that you see. Where do you see the value? How would you generate profit/value for your investment? If I gave you £20m tomorrow to buy Rovers (that might not be enough, hell just tell me how much you need... ;-) ), how would you use that to create something for yourself that returns more than the £20m over a period of time. 20 years? That’s a really good question ( I know it wasn’t aimed at me ) and other than producing 4/5 quality players over the course of that 20 years that we went on to sell for 4/5 million each I see no way you could get a return on your £20,000,000 investment. Football clubs are mostly vanity projects for billionaires or millionaires with hundreds of millions these days. Even clubs as small as ours. If you were worth £30m and you bought Rovers you’d have nothing left after about 10 years. You’d have nothing left after a couple of years if you bought the 82ers. It's not just the 82ers that are losing Page 44 of this report seems quite illuminating: www.deloitte.com/uk/en/services/financial-advisory/research/annual-review-of-football-finance-europe.htmlDownload the report and have a look. It's pretty bleak reading.

Not sure making a profit is behind most of the recent takeovers in L1, look at Wycombe and Burton, plus also Carlisle in L2, I can't really see any of those owners ever getting much of a return, not even sure Birmingham City's owners will ever see a return. I guess it's moved on from buying flash cars and a villa in Monaco to buying an EFL club to boast about to your affluent friends, or simply away of spending some of their excessive wealth? If the Al Saaed's, who probably took on more than they anticipated, do sell up I wonder if they'll make a profit or a big loss, probably the latter if they are seriously thinking of selling up? That's always been my thoughts. The only group I can think of who has been massively successful in generating value, albeit in a method that viewed their needs above the the needs of the fans was the Glaziers. They really did make a few quid from Man Utd. The guy that bought Wycombe is a billionaire? So is potentially a vanity project. The consortium mention, probably don't have a billion between them!

I think it’s time for A new beginning… Oooh, cryptic. No, just referencing a certain thread on here regarding a takeover that must be the biggest thread in the history of Gaschat. Trust me I’d be the last person to be an ITKer 😅

If anyone is really interested in football business, then there are 2 great interviews on the Business of Sport Podcast from the CEOs of Cambridge United and Lincoln City.
I recommend that you watch them via Youtube to appreciate that football at this level is not sustainable (and staying competitive is the key via wages) without an approx annual £3 million loss.
You will learn more from Liam Scully (Lincoln City CEO) about the challenges of League One football finance, than a lifetime on here.
DYOR.

Love this to be true.
I have lost faith in our non existent owners.
The club in past 18 months has slid, losing any feel good factor that was there.

Absolutely true statement to me from someone who does know - “it’s going to be an interesting couple of weeks” - we’ll see.

When Mr Wael took over with all the impressive new directors none of whom lasted five minutes, one of the claims was that we were now 'The 6th wealthiest club in Britain!!!!

The Alsaeeds have not made effort to integrate or get to know the fanbase, it seems strange they bought the club imo. It is weird isn't it. However, maybe when they have tried to say things, it gets over analysed by the fans. So, maybe they have stopped for the moment. I fully expect to hear the stadium development plans by the end of the season. I wonder if it's like when you sell a house with planning permission for a second dwelling in the garden. The increase in value when you sell is greater than the cost of doing the plans and getting the permission. So maybe they won't sell until there is planning permission.

Would really like this to be true. Comms at the club have got really poor since the takeover.
