I was told by someone that Wael was in the civil service club before yesterday game speaking to fans ,can anyone confirm if that was true or not? He was definitely in The Civil Service Club speaking to fans. Thanks, I wonder if that’s where these rumours surfaced from, would be nice if anyone on here actually spoke to him & what’s his take on the club currently.

Dear Mr Bergkamp...when you take over, I promise to spell your name correctly. Humble apologies for my sh**e Dutch. Can we have Ally McCoist to balance out Larsson please? 🏴🏴☠️ Oh god no I can’t stand McCoist.

I can't really see that. How many football clubs actually make a profit? I can see it as a good vanity project. I can see it as a good 'feeder' club. Someone mentioned last week about a team looking to but in other countries to give their future players experience and to find more future players. But the financial don't add up to me. It's not even about the stadium and infrastructure. You only have to peak south of the river and look at their losses. Depends on their business plan. It can work especially as we are a blank piece of paper infrastructure wise. You said that you thought we were a good investment. I'm obviously missing something here as I just cannot see the value that you see. Where do you see the value? How would you generate profit/value for your investment? If I gave you £20m tomorrow to buy Rovers (that might not be enough, hell just tell me how much you need... ;-) ), how would you use that to create something for yourself that returns more than the £20m over a period of time. 20 years?

That’s a really good question ( I know it wasn’t aimed at me ) and other than producing 4/5 quality players over the course of that 20 years that we went on to sell for 4/5 million each I see no way you could get a return on your £20,000,000 investment. Football clubs are mostly vanity projects for billionaires or millionaires with hundreds of millions these days. Even clubs as small as ours. If you were worth £30m and you bought Rovers you’d have nothing left after about 10 years. You’d have nothing left after a couple of years if you bought the 82ers.

To add fuel to the BergCAMP fire, it would explain why he wrote the message last week about pass the ball to me. Wael needs to stoke this one on his Instagram account with an image of Dutch tulips and a reference to Eastville flower beds. A non-Roadman exclusive. 😀 Edammed if he does, and edammed if he doesn't. I'll get my coat.

Not sure making a profit is behind most of the recent takeovers in L1, look at Wycombe and Burton, plus also Carlisle in L2, I can't really see any of those owners ever getting much of a return, not even sure Birmingham City's owners will ever see a return. I guess it's moved on from buying flash cars and a villa in Monaco to buying an EFL club to boast about to your affluent friends, or simply away of spending some of their excessive wealth? If the Al Saaed's, who probably took on more than they anticipated, do sell up I wonder if they'll make a profit or a big loss, probably the latter if they are seriously thinking of selling up?

Not sure I'd be coming from that direction. I'm no businessman, so it would depend on what was wanted. There are a couple of general areas it could work. Added value is one where the buyer is looking at the medium term, getting us Championship ready, so to speak, before then selling on. That would also include a conveyor belt of talent being sold at a premium. This is my interpretation of what our current owners are looking at. Another is by using investors to improve the infrastructure to such a degree that it generates a good rate of return. This would be separate from the football side. The investors could be from various sources, including things like property investors, pension funds, and the like. The money wouldn't be repaid over time necessarily but provides a genuine decent yield provided we can prove to be a low risk. The women's game is growing exponentially at the moment, a good time to get on board here too. Also there are the intangibles, people using the association with us to further business ventures, naming rights or sponsorship. The UWE was worth £8m in naming rights, for example.

These guys are normally worth £1B or more, so £30m is really nothing to them as they are probably generating 10% (£100K) in profits each year from their investments etc. David Beckham is apparently now worth £20B from just being an international footballer!
