Strange result given Stockport's home form, not only did they concede 5 goals but also didn't have a shot on target! For all MT's talk of L1 being a tough league this season, Wycombe are top and Mansfield and Lincoln are 4th & 5th, none of which are hardly L1 big spenders. |

How the hell Wycombe are top of this league is beyond me. They are a cheating bunch of horrible shysters. The teams that play the prettiest football are rarely the promotion sides in this division. You need big tough reliable defenders , a bit of shithousery and to mix it up and go direct at least as much as a possession based game , usually more. You also need good players of course Wycombe fit that bill exactly from what I’ve seen of them this season. I don’t know if they’ll finish top two but I’d be surprised if they didn’t finish in the top 6. Tippy tappy football will only get you promoted if you’ve got the best squad and even then it’s a risk at this level as it generally doesn’t work and Wycombe always seem to play to their strengths, I don’t like them but I must admit i do admire that they know how to get the best out of their resources. |
