Really feel sorry for Collins , those last few months of completely inept and lifeless performances for us only to secure himself a big money move and no doubt a hefty pay rise ……. All to end up having to come back to the Mem again next season. 😂 I dont feel sorry for him you reap the seeds that you sow Whoosh

Collins was one of their players swigging beer in the stands after their win the other night over Barnsley, didn’t take long for those celebrations to come back and bite them.

I’m very disappointed. Oxford normally a good team for us to take points off. Bolton less so.

Well done to Oxford. They deserved to win and were the better team in every way for the whole match. You could just tell their attitude from the start was spot on. Evatt’s a decent manager so he must be furious at the way his players were turned over by Oxford. But I’d be surprised if it cost him his job. Can’t say the same about some of those players. I’d say a few will not play for Bolton again.
After last season when they avoided relegation after having a poor last half of the season Oxford must give a lot of clubs in League 1 some hope that a good summers recruitment can make a difference. They were very poor last Spring but very good this year, so here’s hoping!! 👍
UTG!

Evatt's messed up two consecutive play offs and probably spent the most money in January when signing AC

So whilst I understand the playoffs (thankfully not quite as transparent as rugby premiership) Oxford finished 10 points below Bolton so it just feels like taking the water that in a one off game Oxford, who only confirmed top 6 place on last day of the season, get promoted and Bolton don’t - imho!

That’s always the way with the playoffs. The team who just misses out on the autos often loses out to a team who only just manages to get in. Possibly all on the last day. I mean we’ve been that team before who has subjected other teams to being that team who have just missed out. It’s the beauty of the playoffs. Don’t want to miss out? Don’t fail to get promoted automatically: It is what it is. Bolton are where they are. No sympathy for them, as nobody would have sympathy for us if we were in their shoes.

The opposite would have been L1 over around Christmas for most top 12 teams, as it would have been obvious who would go up? Anyone of Oxford, Lincoln and Blackpool could have gone up this season, and it shows we might have done it under GC.

I assume that just highlights the difference in the fans base sizes between Oxford and Rovers but we can only ever dream about reaching a play off final. It seems we can only dream of an owner with the pedigree like Oxford have too. Wycombe will be next with their new owners, although they have already had a crack at the Championship recently anyway. The underachievement of this club is tragic. Yawn

Exactly. Seems a strange take to bemoan the fact another team missed out because of the playoffs.
I was trying to make the point as well that we’ve subjected a number of teams to that fate as well after our last two promotions from League 2 as well. Northampton last time and Accrington in 2016 who missed out on the smallest of margins.

I said earlier that I don’t think it will cost Evatt his job but having read the Bolton forum the fans are not happy!! Still think he’s a decent manager but Bolton seemed totally unprepared as you said percy. And it is the silly season when little seems to happen and nowadays people seem to think something should happen, good or bad. Immoleased in a way that Oxford did it, it shows that clubs of our size can do well when things come together. UTG!

That's been something we have been guilty of in the past.

Wembley looks empty for the L2 final. Two clubs in the bottom half of the tier for average attendance (Crewe 14th, 5.2k; Crawley 19th, 3.6k) so unsurprising but wish more could be done to make it a packed place. Cheaper tickets etc.
I suppose not all clubs can take 40k to the capital... nice seeing the highlights flashbacks of Walker's chip, Igoe's late winner and one of my favourite Gasheads ever, Stuart Campbell, lifting the playoff trophy from the stands.
