15-20,000 is fine unless we are regularly challenging for promotion to the Premiership, and the rare cup tie. Either of those would be nice. MY Point is about building in such a way that we are future proofing upto about 27K

I would love to see Rovers have a 40-50 thousand seater stadium but the narrow access to and from the ground make this impossible. With all the house building currently going on and planned if the club is successful a big stadium will be required!

I don't see why the club couldn't go for 25/30k at the Mem to be honest.
If they can come up with something that looks good, contemporary, not an absolute ikea looking eye sore, locals may well like idea of having a something shiny on their door step. Could have minimal light on non match days, wooden panels to make it natural looking on the outside. Lots of nice touches that would make it more appealing.
I am hoping the owners are more ambitious than they have currently come across.

Surely the original was close to max available.

I agree with outsidehitter that we need to be future proofing the ground and should squeeze all we can in. Look at Brighton now playing in the Prem in a 30k seater..

Look at Brighton now playing in the Prem in a 30k seater.. That was the Opal student accommodation plan, we'd probably not need to allocate that space. However, that would have involved moving out while the work was done. The plan is to rebuild in situ which would affect the available space.

Future ExpansionI would be very disappointed if they did'nt plan for future expansion. Looking at UK city's of equal size around the country, They have two or three stadiums bigger that the two that Bristol has. A stadium is community asset & I would be going toe to toe with the planners about the Infrastructure getting to & from the stadium. That's not down to the stadium user. Looking at Numerous stadiums the land at the Mem is more than Big enough for 40K stadium. Specifically looking at the Redevelopment I would like to dream to see the following over the next 10 years: Phase 1 - Underway New South Stand Phase 2 - New East Stand at Pitch Level but the front of the new stand at the back of the current terrace. Capacity 7500 to 9000 Phase 3 - Move Pitch towards the new east Stand (width of Current Terrace). Phase 4a - Extend "New" South stand Finishing about Level with the back of the current East Stand Terrace. Capacity Approx 3500 Phase 4 - New North Stand Two Tier. Capacity 5000 to 6000 Phase 5 - New East Stand full length of the Pitch But Starting about where 10 m inside the current Pitch lines because we have moved the West stand over: Capacity 7500 to 9000 All of course with the bars & corporate facilities. Doing it this way you you could get to a capacity of between 23500 & 27500. If the Owners were brave they could have the capacity they desire. As they say "Build it and they will come" In Bristol as I see it (Ie the old county of Avon - Bristol, South Glos & North Somerset) There are a Million People. Even if you you went for the most adventurous numbers here you would only be accounting for seating of less than 6% of the population across AG & The Mem. Unfortunately any planning application of this type will require a travel plan, the one for the South Stand needed one and that wasn't changing the capacity much. Bumping up the capacity as we are planning, means we'll need to have a plan in place. This is the clubs responsibility and no one else's. As mentioned elsewhere our six fingered friends put on shuttle busses to the park and ride for example. I had to get a bus south of the river the other day. I did note on the APP that there was a specific ticket you could buy for going to Trashcan. Didn't seem that we did much of a traffic survey for the south stand, probably as no real capacity change - which you've covered - but would need one for the future. Must be a deal with bus/train companies to be done.

I would love to see Rovers have a 40-50 thousand seater stadium but the narrow access to and from the ground make this impossible. With all the house building currently going on and planned if the club is successful a big stadium will be required! I might be overthinking and underestimating this but, realistically we're not going to be a club punching in the lower echelons of the PL or upper Championship anytime in the next 10-15 years at this rate, IMO. So, with that said, redeveloping the Mem for 15-20k makes logical sense. However, if on-field success was achieved and somehow we did make it to the promised land, the financial benefits of such would allow us to basically redo the whole situation and start fresh with a new stadium. Basically my point being that we'll redevelop the Mem now, keep looking for other sites in the background for the future and go from there should be jump up the leagues. I maintain the long term place to build a stadium will be in South Glos out past Almondsbury. Our training centre is already there and the ease of access to motorways for fans, particularly away, will be an advantage. Matchgoing fans would understandably be less keen about moving outside of Bristol and away from the fun of Glos Rd etc. but I just can't see any other plausible sites around Bristol, currently, that would be possible. There is A LOT of land north of Almondsbury and South Glos council seem, on the face, of it, more open to planning than BCC. Just my two cents of course. On topic, I'd like something similar to the Exeter Rugby as posted - a long, pitch-length stand with potentially two tiers of seating and a roof that stops rain getting onto us!

With regards to capacity, I was reading a Championship attendance stats. Only 2 or 3 clubs in the championship have a highest attendance of the season below 20K. Most have highest crowds of the season around 24/25K with a few over 30K
I would say if we are looking to get to championship level and maintaining that, we need to be looking at having a 25K capacity ground.

Whilst I don't think we'll get that at the Mem, we aren't at this point looking to change the West Stand. If in a few years we decide more is needed, maybe we can replace the West stand with a net addition of a few thousand. May push us to around or over the 20,000 mark.

Not ambitious = just pust ends on current east and West stand, which is what Hussain AlSaeed said. Ambitious = knock it all down and build contemporary football stadium and facilities.

Your "ambitious" plan is probably at least 3-5 times as expensive as the "not ambitious" one. Nice if we can afford it, but I doubt it will happen.

If the East stand is redeveloped with the main existing structure as it is, which means it won't be moved back, then that pins the West stand in its place for years to come, so no hope of improving it much. Maybe side extensions.
