As the south Stand closes in on completion and touch wood all gets signed off and approved đź‘Ś our attention moves to the East/North stands. My look on it is that from what the new owners have said the current main seated area will remain and we will build new seating structures either side of the current one so I'm just hoping that we can build a 2 tier structured seating area that is built to match the current height of the existing one as anything lower will 1 look odd and 2 not increase maximum capacity for what is the largest area of the stadium as we've been told the west stand will remain untouched. So without the club showing us fans their proposed plans for the East Side I'm just wondering what everyone else thinks what will happen to that side of the stadium given that the Dribuild is to stay?

It's been discussed - to some extent - on the redevelopment thread
Surely the East Stand would be better off being removed [demolished] and replaced. Whilst the idea of sticking 2 cheeks either side of it seems like a solution, the ES is not very efficient in terms of seats. A purpose built full-length stand [again discussed in the other thread (mods: merger needed?)] could have a proper use of space behind/beneath - part concourse, part hosp, part shop/gym/whatever.
Alsaeed has said they have already started to utilise architects so presumably a proper analysis will be done for each possible project to maximise potential against initial expenditure.
I keep thinking of the Trollope Stand at Swindle, which is full length, has boxes and under stand amenities and is about 7,000 capacity.

Thought he said we'll do the southern section first, then the northern section. I don't recall him actually saying the existing stand remaining, which is the inference but not actually what he said.

My fear is it will be something like Carlisles with the two funny looking crates ether side of the old stand.

Listened to the interview again, and also watched it this time, and Mr A does say & also points towards stage 2 being the development of the north and south side of the East Stand, so it does sound like the plans are to keep the East Stand and build something along side it, disappointing as that sounds. Perhaps when the plans are shown like the South/South West Stand it will look more impressive than we anticipate.

I hope I'm wrong but I don't think I am? I'll try and upload the interview for you. I think it is open to interpretation what he means when he talks about either side of the East. I also think when he does Feasibility with architects and other development stakeholders, it may well become obvious that full-length with proper integrated design may well be a better investment with quicker ROI than additions to the existing lump.

Let’s also remember that English isn’t his first language and any plans for stage two are probably in their early stages.

The article says "Once the South Stand is finished, AlSaeed said the plan is to turn attentions to develop both sides of the East Stand, followed by the Thatchers Stand." But that's the journalist writing that and not a direct quote. It may well be that is what will happen, but it's not clear from the interview.

Thinks it’s about time we had a Thatchers end thread isn’t it ?

If you listen and watch the interview on the above link then it seems obvious what he means. A complete demolition and rebuild will cost ÂŁ20m plus and also mean the whole east side is out of use for a couple of seasons, sticking a couple of semi permanent stands on the end a lot less and will also mean we can keep on using the east stand.

Are you going to take Swiss up on his request to be a conduit? Wonder what he wants us to know? 🤔

Did anyone notice the Carlisle main stand Saturday? It’s the East Stand with two bits added each side, if I’m honest, it looked awful. Somebody mentioned that on here previously, hopefully Mr A attended the game, or watched it on iFollow, and has told his architects he doesn't want anything similar built at the Mem!
