Party night in Buenos Airies (for the third night!), imagine texting your friend “I’ll meet you by the Obilisk” 😂 A bit like Gloucester road every time we go up.

No one would be talking about Messi, if Jamie Shore hadn’t of buggered his knee.

Think I’ve watched that video about 4 times in a row now. Just incredible. Honestly if we think we’re football mad, we are absolutely nothing compared to the Argentinians. Just look at the scenes of our Euros final in comparison ffs Don't think we won the euros. No one celebrates coming 2nd either so how can you compare? Plus its the euros, not the world cup which is The Big One I think you’re missing my point. I’m saying look at the atmosphere we had during the Euros and especially the final - it was nothing to what Argentina created in their group games, and we were at home! I went to all England home games of that competition and apart from Germany, not once did we get marginally close to Argentinas atmosphere. Also, many counties celebrate coming 2nd. Ironically I’ve had this conversation a lot recently with some friends who’re foreign. They all believe coming 2nd and even 3rd is a big deal. They couldn’t understand why the English aren’t bothered by it. But anyway, do you actually believe we would get close to those celebrations if we won the WC? I can’t see it personally

There were plenty of Argies in Doha, no question but they were backed up by tens of thousands locals packing stadiums all wearing their Messi shirts. They love a big atmosphere but were helped along massively by people who were there for one man only.

There’s no way that England would pack out London like the Argies did if we won the WC. There’s no way there would be fun celebrations throughout the capital where people are just dancing and enjoying themselves for 3 days. It would be a core group of people getting wasted and probably end up in huge fights and riots. Assuming you were at all the games in the Euros as well - the atmosphere before the final was an absolute disgrace. I saw fights within the stadium multiple times and saw a a guys wrist snapped. Then there were the break-ins.. I just don’t think we’re as passionate as the Argies are when it comes to England. I’ve been to many games and the only one that came close to what Argentina fans consistently created was Germany in the euros (at the beginning of the game and once we went 1-0 up)

Given Barely any of us were there, I was fortunate to be at every game and definitely didn’t have the feel of a tournament in the group stages for that reason. As for pre match of the final you’re spot on, I was ducking flying glass bottles whilst queuing for a whizz outside Wembley arena. I hadn’t seen anything like it before, not even in the proceeding rounds against Germans/Denmark. I’ve always attributed it to English folk in general, rather than exclusively football fans. The drink, drugs, level of disorder and borderline rioting outside will always be a stain on our recent history. I think the celebrations would be well attended in the capital, perhaps not the scale of 4 million but it would be vast. But as above you know it’ll be overshadowed by those who can’t indulge in genuine happiness and celebration without turning things ugly & spoiling it for many.

I do agree with you on the group stages, I was also there for them all except Scotland major 0-0 win. And agree with you attributing it to English in general. I guess I just get consistently disappointed with England football, our fans, the atmosphere, the style of football. Germany was one of, if not the best games I’ve ever been to as a package. We also finally realised that we can’t blame Wembley for a poor atmosphere, it’s on us. Sadly everything else I just find flat. I do think part of it comes down to our style of play as well though, it’s difficult to get going when you’ve got 70% possession and keep passing it amongst Stones & Maguire
