I've started rewatching The Wire again after about 15 years. It just gets better and better with age. It was always a close call between The Sopranos and The Wire as to the G.O.A.T in regards to TV Series. Over time I think The Wire now edges it. Just superb in every way. Second greatest telly ever after Breaking Bad, in my opinion. Breaking Bad was good, enjoyed it but not a series I would watch over again. Sopranos, yes, Band of Brothers, yes, West Wing, yes, 2 and 1/2 Men, yes, New Tricks, yes.

Breaking Bad is good, Better Call Saul is even better. Probably my favourite ever show I agree. Breaking Bad was superb and thought it could never be bettered but Better Call Saul did it. Had the lot. drugs, crime, gangs, family stuff, pathos, heartbreak and comedy.

It's not just BBC4, I also fit in the odd Select Committee on BBC Parliament. Breaking Bad was a more consistent series whereas Better Call Saul had probably better individual episodes and because of the background and experience gained, had marginally better acting and production. But truth is they have a very symbiotic relationship and are better series for both existing.

But what clinched it for me was the relationship Jimmy had with his brother Chuck, and how it developed from family jealousy into something much darker and ultimately tragic. Brilliant scenes involving those two and absolutely unmissable. A little bit like Walt's relationship with brother-in-law Hank in Breaking Bad, but in BC Saul it was explored in more depth and with more feeling. And who would have thought Chuck was also David St Hubbins in This Is Spinal Tap??

I go back time and time again to The West Wing for relaxing viewing - Aaron Sorkin is a genius writer and if you've not already watched it The Newsroom should definitely be next on your list - same energy and same genius but with a very different perspective on the issues being discussed. Also I have a new gem that I stumbled over that I'm busy recommending to people - Money Heist. It's produced and filmed in Spanish and there are five seasons on Netflix dubbed into English - and once we got past the dubious dubbing in the first couple of episodes it became a must-watch show for us - a classic heist show with a lot of clever twists and interesting politics thrown into the mix Money Heist is even better if you watch the non dubbed version. Great show! Sadly I would struggle on many levels but I did read a few reviews that mentioned some of the more subtle parts only really work with the original language. Still I am glad they did the dubbed version and we got to watch it - will be keeping an eye out for what those involved do in the future. ...and I was just scrolling back through the thread....can't believe no one has yet mentioned Taskmaster which (in the UK version) is just finishing it's sixteenth season. Whilst that will always be my favourite version, we have also watched the New Zealand and Australian versions, as well as (so far) the Norwegian and Swedish versions - weird how what seems to be a quintessentially British idea has translated so well around the world!

Had the lot. drugs, crime, gangs, family stuff, pathos, heartbreak and comedy. I recently watched both series again, this time back to back (with the Breaking bad Movie in between) and enjoyed Better Call Saul even more! Understood it even more and noticed a lot more of the small crossover characters. I hadn’t seen the last series of Better Call Saul so decided to watch the whole lot again, finishing with the final series

Looks like I'm in the minority as I found Breaking Bad really tedious and didn't watch past the second episode.
I have however, been enjoying some Brandon Cronenburg movies. (Son of David Cronenburg) Possessor, Infinity Pool and Antivirus were quite enjoyable if you like that sort of thing although they may be better ideas than movies, all 3 really stayed with me long after I finished watching them.
Same goes for an obscure Italian (dubbed into English) horror called Piggy which really made me think about what I would do in her situation. In short, a bullied girl sees a serial killer attack and kill one of her tormentors. Should she go to the cops, or let them get away?
I'd also very highly recommend The Platform currently on Netflix. Another dubbed Italian film which was stark and very brutal.
If some more lighthearted gore is your thing, "Becky" was really enjoyable with Kevin James unrecognisable as an escaped neo nazi convict.

Have to say I thought Breaking Bad was the better.
Have just watched on Netflix a six part series "Pine Gap" thought it was quite good. Never heard of Pine Gap before until February this year we were in Alice Springs having a drink in our hotel and got chatting to an Aussie who told us about it. We thought he was nuts as he pointed out US CIA agents to us who would never admit they worked there but he was 100% correct.
