Buy the England players wouldn't be expected to sing the Irish national anthem or show deference to the tricolour so that's not the same scenario is it? McClean is not expected to sing the British National anthem! Where on earth do you get that from?....and yes, it is the same scenario ! The clip is of McClean turning 90 degrees and bowing his head so as not to face the Union Flag while his team mates sing the national anthem - the argument being that DM should have offered deference to a national symbol which is not his - so no, it's not the same scenario as standing still while the opposition team sing their national anthem prior to an international fixture.

Hilarious thread. I'm an Englishman, I don't really care for the flag and I won't sing our anthem or respect royalty. Why I hear you ask? Because the royal family are incestuous lizards from a secret base carved in the moon. I refuse to be brainwashed by them. Best wishes. Ras?

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33651775Kirk Broadfoot: Rotherham United defender banned for 10 games Rotherham United's Kirk Broadfoot has been banned for 10 matches by the Football Association after he was found guilty of misconduct. Reports suggest the 30-year-old former Rangers defender received the ban for sectarian abuse of winger James McClean in the game between the Millers and Wigan in March. McClean, 27, is a Republican Catholic while Broadfoot is a Protestant. Rotherham are not planning to comment on the suspension. The FA said in a statement: "The charge was that during a league fixture between Rotherham and Wigan Athletic on 14 March 2015 Broadfoot used abusive and/or insulting words towards a member of the opposition, in breach of FA Rule E3(1). "It was further alleged that the breach was an 'aggravated breach' as defined by Rule E3(2). "Broadfoot was also fined £7,500 and ordered to complete an education programme." It is the longest ban to have been handed out by the governing body for verbal abuse. Then-Liverpool striker Luis Suarez was banned for eight matches in 2011 for racially abusing Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra.

Can't understand how people get so worked up over a work of fiction.

I am not defending the IRA. Absolutely not. They've committed attacks of unspeakable evil. My point is that both sides did enough damage to various communities to ensure a century's worth of bitterness. Who's talking about the IRA? The people murdered on Bloody Sunday weren't members of the IRA. That's why it was referred to as Bloody Sunday and not "Thank God we won a fire fight with the IRA" Sunday. McClean has no IRA affiliation nor do the people who's memory he feels he would be disrespecting. What have the IRA got to do with anything discussed here? Does the youth branch of the ira not count then as at least one killed was on the day,

The Bloody Sunday enquiry costs millions, but it never really got to the bottom of things. Have a gander at the testimony of a certain Martin McGuiness. It was decided that he had basically told a bunch of lies to the enquiry, but he was allowed to get away with it. Why was that? Was he the person who actually opened fire on that day, as it is widely believed?
