Will anyone be joining me by booing his every touch if this petulent little s**t plays in the Kitey game. If you think people must fall in line & fulfil certain obligations to be free then you don't believe in a free country.

I take a modicum of displeasure with your remark about the British Army. Some of the provocation that I and others who served over there were subjected to deserve to be taken into account before you throw a comment like that over the wall. Yeah, of course, I'm not saying that it was unprovoked. However, historians will rightly look at the troubles and conclude that both sides committed evil - in the case of the British Army, they'll refer to Bloody Sunday, Ballymurphy and Springhill. Turning his back and not wearing a poppy is McClean's way of remembering the dead. I might not agree with it, but I respect his decision and acknowledge his freedom to do so. its disrespectful, even the queen has managed to shake the hands of people Involved in her cousins assassination and respect the Irish national anthem. the bloke wasn't a twinkle in the eye when the main troubles were happening in Northern Ireland but his actions in the public eye continue to fan the flames in the province which despite the media reports, is a tinderbox waiting to erupt. Very irresponsible behaviour. Hope he gets a career ending injury in the near future.

I cannot and will not forgive these acts. he is entitled to do what ever he wants on a football field, especially earning a living but I won't accept your argument my friend. Up the Gas

I am not defending the IRA. Absolutely not. They've committed attacks of unspeakable evil. My point is that both sides did enough damage to various communities to ensure a century's worth of bitterness.

How far back are we allowed to go back in history to make a point ? Should we nag Italy ( Rome ) over payment for making our people slaves ? The trouble is some nations like to drag up 20 years some 300 years.........where does it end ?

Mead gas, that is fine, however the list of persecution and Murder carried on after the Peace Agreement was signed and delivered, as I said I have personal reasons for hating the cowards. during my time in Germany I had to carry out tactics to prevent harm to my family, I appreciate others points of view on the subject but can't be swayed.

The people murdered on Bloody Sunday weren't members of the IRA. That's why it was referred to as Bloody Sunday and not "Thank God we won a fire fight with the IRA" Sunday. McClean has no IRA affiliation nor do the people who's memory he feels he would be disrespecting. What have the IRA got to do with anything discussed here?

I am as they use this fools actions as propaganda fuelling the hatred that clearly still exists. The poppy snub was all over sinn feins newspaper and im sure the flag and national anthem will be to. The blokes happy to take the wage and conduct his football in the country he seems to hate so much so will have to live by his actions. Mediocre footballer who has to rely on these stunts to massage his own ego no doubt. Scum in my opinion.

Hilarious thread.
I'm an Englishman, I don't really care for the flag and I won't sing our anthem or respect royalty.
Why I hear you ask?
Because the royal family are incestuous lizards from a secret base carved in the moon. I refuse to be brainwashed by them.
Best wishes.

Right so McClean doesn't want to dishonour the memory of people who were not IRA members who were massacred. And now you say that newspapers sympathetic to a political party with seats in the House of Commons (albeit they do not take those seats but they are recognised by parliament) who have campaigned for the recognition of the same massacred innocent people who were not members of the IRA have supported McClean's stance. Sorry ... where do the IRA come into it again?
