And MT can’t do this, I actually felt sad seeing Graham ask for support. He was in no different position to Taylor as now, Hani was trying to sell the club, Hamer and Wael were at war.
He mentions the fans on his back, he also says we are onto to something and that day at Portman Road in December we saw it.
Cogs was turned down on Liam Scales, he had the politics as well but he just did his job and used the players he had at his disposal.
I keep saying the manager is the PR spokesman and the marketing manager for the club all rolled into one.
Our team that day and now we have a side with over £1.5 million in paid transfer fees………
BRISTOL ROVERS Jaakkola Mark Little Tony Craig Alfie Kilgour Luke Leahy Abu Ogogo Liam Sercombe Ollie Clarke Ed Upson Rollin Menayese Victor Adeboyejo
SUBS Jordi van Stappershoef Tareiq Holmes-Dennis Michael Kelly Alex Rodman Tom Nichols Tyler Smith Kyle Bennett

“What we have done in 12 months here……….” MT has had this and gone backwards.
“I don’t do politics………..” well MT did at Swindon.
Big difference with these two men, one says it how it is, shows his passion and gets on with it. Also one found the right formula with what he had, he never made 5 subs for the sake of it every second half.
Our manager after 12 months never ever talks about his players like Cogs did.

The football under Coughlan was some of the worst football I have seen from a Rovers side in my 63 years of watching them.

Good luck to him on his managerial journey. Unluckily sacked at both Mansfield and Newport imo. At Mansfield I think he gathered together many of the players who got them promotion eventually and at Newport he did as well as he could have been expected to. Always got the best of the players he had at his disposal and we’ve never been so high since. Perhaps the football wasn’t the best but him and his players always put a shift in. It helped having JCH near his best as well. I hope it works out well for him at Boston. UTG!

The football under Coughlan was some of the worst football I have seen from a Rovers side in my 63 years of watching them. 56 games managed for us, 1.68 points per game for Cogs = Winning Football. Over a calendar season that’s 77 points, play offs. 52 games managed by MT, 1.12 points per game, 52 points over a calendar season. The football wasn’t great under Cogs, he had a major restricted budget, he used the ingredients given and baked a half decent cake. Fine line, Barton tried to entertain and we had 72% possession at places like Burton away and got smashed 4-1. Give me winning football any day of the week, we have no right to think we should be a champagne footballing club on the eye.

Paul the football under Cogs was dire, I never wanted to watch it, fair play he ground out results however it was as pleasing on the eye as a date with Jimmy Krankie!

Yet another thread basically saying you want MT out, you must lead a sad life to post the same stuff all day every day. We have always been poorly run, get over it and go and mow a lawn rather than digging up stuff just because the manager isn’t to your liking. UTG 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️

UTG 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️ Don’t judge my life please, I’m very happy or tell me what I should post, if you don’t like it, ignore me or simply feck off. I get told my replies can be rude or a little direct, with you I feel totally fine with my reply. This is a forum for debate, have you thought about asking to be a MOD and then proposing what people can and cannot post? Good luck with that pal.

You see for me I’ve got some other poster telling me what I can and can’t post but I think it’s good debate. The video in question on this thread, we just won 4-3 away at Shrewsbury. Before this we had won at Rochdale, and after Shrews we beat Ipswich away so that was 3 wins on the bounce on the road, 7 goals scored 🤷🏼♂️ Was it really that bad if we are allowed to debate this? I think it was really bad when we were 4 points adrift when he took over and needed to stabilise us and just get points and be hard to beat. We lost at home to ravaged Bolton 0-2 and they was massive fan outcry that day and rightly so, Bolton had a scratch side put together under embargo and administration……….we then went 10 unbeaten home and away to the day he left after Ipswich. Our last home game before Cogs left we beat Southend 4-2 at home, can you imagine us scoring 4 goals now at home in a game? Give me Cogs results and football any day over what we have now.

Obviously touched a nerve, so while I have your attention please can you send us all links to the £1.5 million he has spent on transfers please. Just some factual evidence to back your claims up and while you’re at it can you throw in the actual net spend he has splashed out after selling all the squad in the last 12 months. That should keep you off the lawn for an hour.

Sliding doors moment when Cogs left. If only his family were a little closer!
That said still believe in sticking with Taylor things are getting better and we will go on a run soon.

I will ask Gasdust to give me the approximate fees and get him to reply, he posted them the other day. Got snow here and can’t do the lawn and my Mountfield MTF84M doesn’t come out in the winter. Now locked up and covered, it’s a target for theft 👍 Good to see you still reading the thread and contributing, funny how it bothered you at the start to reply, I look forward to your next, every time you do, I win 👍

Just cut and paste from Gasdust
“Promise 600k Forde 400k Conteh 300k Hutchinson 250k Taylor 300k
We’ve got nearly 2 million quids worth in that squad tonight”
Let’s half for arguments sake, that’s near a million alone.

Paul I respect your opinion, and everyone elses on here, but my recollection is boring route one football, and clearly remember he was a lucky manager, liked his no nonsense interviews but not my style of football, in that East stand it affords a great view and I didn't like what I saw of Cogs ball, neither did the Gas faithful, as crowds dwindled despite good results, quite bizarre in some respects.

I liked Cogs, and he had the players onside, but, on the whole, the football lacked entertainment value. Good luck to him in his new job.

Sod Cogs, he got his head turned by the Radfords and left us right in the lurch at one of the busiest times of the year. Left to be nearer to family and ended up at, er..Newport Plus we ended up with Garner, not strictly his fault but he made the position available.

I could cope with the absolutely terrible football so long as we were winning quite a bit, but he deserted us at an important time. Lost my respect.

I enjoyed the results but not the performances. JCH dug out some results for him though. I'd love to know if he regrets leaving, with the benefit on hindsight. We will most likely never ever see him again though. Could have had his pick of clubs if he managed to continue what he was doing for another 5-6 months
