It does say no more iFollow in the UK which is a shame. Still available overseas if you can do a quick trip abroad - assume they may start to care more about blocking VPNs with Sky wanting most money out of the deal.
"All opening, final day, and midweek fixtures in the Sky Bet EFL will be shown live, as will all games played on Bank Holidays including Easter, Boxing Day and New Year's Day alongside the matches played in Sky Bet League One and League Two during international breaks."
So the opening day and final day can't be 3pm kick offs as it says the 3pm Saturday blackout still applies ? Also does that imply all games in international breaks will be shown, again can't be 3pm Saturdays.
Assume you will have to subscribe to Sky rather than be able to pay as you go like you can with iFollow.
Will sky be happy with loads of L1 clubs cancelling games in the international break when they are counting on those games to fill their schedule ?

This article, although quite old, starts to explain it, www.theguardian.com/football/2023/may/05/english-football-league-agrees-new-935-deal-with-sky-sports“Under the deal 1,059 league, EFL Cup and EFL Trophy matches will be shown live either on a Sky main channel or via a Sky streaming platform, replacing the iFollow service for domestic viewers. The blackout stays but more matches will be available to stream, with six games across the Championship, League One and League Two set to kick off at 12.30pm each Saturday. The deal means 26 out of 36 matches will kick off at Saturday 3pm – seven Championship matches plus 19 across Leagues One and Two. The EFL acknowledges the changes in kick-off times can make planning difficult for fans and has committed to placing all live matches up to the FA Cup third round before the start of each season.” IPG

From next season (2024/25), a new rights agreement between the EFL and Sky Sports comes into effect, making Sky Sports the home of the EFL. With over 1,000 EFL fixtures live on Sky Sports via Sky and NOW each season, iFollow will cease to offer domestic live video coverage of EFL matches.
The update comes as we begin a five-year rights deal with Sky Sports and will see significantly enhanced exposure for all EFL clubs.
We’re excited for the groundbreaking partnership with Sky Sports to begin, with fans set to access more action than ever before from across the Championship, League One, League Two, every game of the Carabao Cup and Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
Thank you for being a valued part of our community, and we can't wait to continue bringing you the best of EFL football next season on Sky Sports via Sky and NOW.

I wonder what this means for clubs that have their own channels like Charlton.
Living overseas, iFollow is a godsend, so hope that there are enough overseas subscribers that they keep it going.

Many will still use a VPN as before to watch via iFollow. You can bet the majority of those thousand plus matches will be Championship games so can’t see us being show that many times during the season, which is why many will still use a VPN to access iFollow.

I’m a ST holder and Sky subscriber so will have to plan my trips abroad to my various villas, gites etc more carefully in order to see all games live

On the face of it it seems like the death knell to ifollow. Following the email yesterday/this morning (whenever it was) I have been doing some reading and thinking about it as I like the ifollow product.
However with some very crude maths approx 1800 games spread evenly across the 72 (which I know it won’t be) that makes 25 games a season per club broadcast. Split it 50/50 home and away and we’ll see about half of away games broadcast. If you think of it now that only evening games are shown or those on an international break, bank holiday or some other reason not on a Saturday then how many of those do we get in a season? Far less than 13.
So an ifollower should find it easier and cheaper, provided they have sky sports anyway, to watch the gas remotely next season for away games.
From the clubs perspective though that might be 13 odd games they don’t get a tenner for ifollow.
The rest you can “go on holiday” and see whilst you’re somewhere else. Same as you would do right now for a Saturday 3pm fixture.
edit: it’s 1,000+ so can pretty much split the maths in half. Don’t know where I got that from but either way probably not any different to todays situation.

You can buy a 24 hour pass for Sky Sports through Now TV. I think it's £11.99. Worked fine for the Sheffield Wednesday game last season

.... Although I don't suppose that the clubs see any of that money The clubs are apparently getting a better deal overall from Sky? Although that should probably read "the players" as that's probably where any additional money will go.

"The deal means 26 out of 36 matches will kick off at Saturday 3pm – seven Championship matches plus 19 across Leagues"
At present there's usually 24 fixtures kicking off at 3pm on a Saturday in L1/L2 so 5 fixtures will now be moved, not sure what the split will be but it could be 4 x L1 & 1 x L2 fixtures, so that's nearly a third of L1 fixtures no longer being played at 3pm on a Saturday.

£10 a game, £25 a month, £99 for half season and £180 for the while season. Increase of about £35 for the season by the look of it.

Looks promising. I will be at the game on the 10th but will be interested to know how it goes with our permanent and temporary overseas supporters and how it might compare with Sky's broadcasts. I think a tenner a game is fair enough. I'm always a bit nervous about signing up for a season ticket in case my interpretation of being abroad is disputed at some stage, if you get my meaning...

I'd imagine BRTV will just be iFollow MK2 i.e one camera and probably R Bristol commentary, Sky will be far more professional but the football will still be the same whichever platform you use! The new monthly season ticket seems a no brainer if you regularly watched games on iFollow as if we have our usual demise in January then you can save yourself £25 a month for a few months!! What's not clear is what happens if we're on Sky, does BRTV show Sky's broadcasts or their own productions or none at all?
