Given Barton told us he was working for nothing, I wonder if he waived his payoff? I doubt it somehow. So, so pleased he's gone and more so given his endless provocative twittering. Still he built a mid table squad and it's up to MT to build on that over the next couple of windows. He certainly seems a good team manager but the test will come when he starts signing his own players and how they work out. That lack of recruitment/ scouting staff will not make that part of his job easy.

His contacts also brought in Trev Clarke, Loft, Mark Hughes, Harvey Saunders, Pitman, Leon Clarke, I mean I could mention another 8 as well, you have to come some right! If that is correct, which it is, how is it the managers before Joey brought in so many bad players ?, the team Joey inherited from Garner / T1 was awful. The team we are currently watching, although a lot on here do not want to recognise it, is Joeys squad of players, Joey brought them to the club, his contacts particularly at premierships clubs, such as Manchester City and Newcastle United (both which he played for) is excellent. I wish Taylor well, in fact I had a chat and photo with him in the car park yesterday, this is a very good squad, add a proven goal scorer in January, and I would expect this squad to make the play offs at least. Stop disrespecting him by calling him T2 then.

The one thing I noticed in the crowd yesterday was the unity is starting to return, it’s time to move on from the infighting and just see that Joey built us a very good squad and Matt has got that squad getting results.
Great day yesterday. UTG

Barton would make a great chief scout for lower underachieving club. Has contacts and brought some very good players to club , better than we’re used to. But as a manager or person I never rated him that much. We move on , and so far it’s been so much nicer and better in every way. His contacts also brought in Trev Clarke, Loft, Mark Hughes, Harvey Saunders, Pitman, Leon Clarke, I mean I could mention another 8 as well, you have to come some right! But for balance…. Saunders and Pitman all provided goals that gave us points that meant we got promotion in 2022. Not for the long term perhaps but just as JB wasn’t the messiah nor the genius he thought he was neither was he clueless or useless. Some of the football we saw in Spring 2022 was excellent. I hope that we don’t lose any kind of balance between his good attributes and his bad ones. It does seem to be getting lost. It wasn’t all bad just as much as it wasn’t all good. Despite my not liking him he gave us one of our seven promotions and for that we should all be grateful. 😉 UTG!

The worst relegation in our history in fact.

I don't expect we will ever get a truthful answer but whether it was Barton or Jennings who made some of our signings they deserve credit. The following have been brilliant permanent deals compared to the sh** we've had to watch over the years.
Connor Taylor Luke Thomas Grant ward Aaron Collins Jack hunt Antony Evans James Wilson Sam finley

Don't forget he gave us one of our relegations too. So did DC. The worst relegation in our history in fact. Yes, but DC repaid that with two consecutive promotions so was one up when he left. JB took us down and then back up, leaving us one place (?) higher than when he arrived. DC left us a whole division above when he arrived. I was just making sure that as the poster said, we have a balanced approach to the memory of JB. If we celebrate the promotion, we have to recognise he got us relegated too.

But that was my point wasn’t it? Some balance. He’s one of only a few managers who gave us promotion. And as I said he was neither a genius nor was he useless. But he’s gone and we seem very fortunate to have MT who has made a good start. UTG!

Connor Taylor Luke Thomas Grant ward Aaron Collins Jack hunt Antony Evans James Wilson Sam finley Can't argue that those are great players. A good mix of young and old. It would be really interesting to see how many players he signed and how many worked out and how many didn't, because some didn't. Remember, we are keeping a balance between the good and the bad. I've always been a Sam Finlay fan, however some have been calling for his head in the last 3 months. Personally you only have to look at his desire to keep the ball in play for our second goal against Portsmouth to see that he is a great player. Probably the most consistent player over the last few years. Anyone got a full list of JB signings?

It absolutely was, I was just helping you to keep that balance. When JB came in, we weren't in the relegation zone. When the season ended, we were. It's quite factual, JB got us relegated.

Would be nice to concentrate on Matt Taylor now - he’s the future 👍 💙 UTG We are, don't worry about that. He has set the place alight with a good mix of playing the ball around the park and also going a bit more direct. With the fans on his side, taking it one game at a time who knows where we will be at the end of the season.

When the season ended, we were. It's quite factual, JB got us relegated. JB was part of a complete farce of managers that season and he played his part in our relegation but it wasn’t all on him. And of course you’ll know that I moaned about his ‘give up attitude’ towards the end of the season esp after that pen at Northampton to give them a draw. His attitude was awful, as I said at the time. Thanks but I think I’ll just about keep a balanced view, just as I had over the 20/21 season when several managers and others needed to accept their share of the responsibility. 👍 UTG!
