Autumn Statement next week, with inflation lower Hunt seems to have some wriggle room and reported to be looking at some tax cuts.
"According to the Telegraph, Mr Hunt and Rishi Sunak could cut inheritance tax from 40% in the autumn statement.
HMRC says only 4% of estates paid inheritance tax in 2021."
It's totemic for the right of the Conservatives who are probably still unsettled over Braverman's removal. Putting party unity first above national interests again.

Almost makes me laugh when I hear them say they’ve got some wriggle room (20 billion?) , when we’ve got debts running into the trillions 🙄 Absolute shysters the lot of them

When does "we only need to borrow slightly less than forecast" been a success?. Nothing against borrowing to invest, but the truth is we are skint and political parties do not want to say it.

Right wing government in Argentina disliking the left? Doesn't bode well.

Not had chance yet, although the Argentinian forces aren't up to much these days, completely different proposition now. Mind you, Denmark is looking to sell 24 F16s and Norway 4 maritime patrol aircraft which have just received US agreement. The idea was to keep Argentina onside rather than allow them to fall into China's orbit with a rival bid. One to watch.

Not announced to Parliament first? Tut, tut. Other rumours include a cut in NI contributions.

Listening to R4 this morning I heard the classic phrase "Supply Side Reforms"
My god how many times have we heard that since the 1980s. It didn't work then and it will not work now, not without very large tax cuts. That, they cannot achieve, without very large spending cuts.
They do not have the balls to do that.

He is on this forum. £5 for guessing the correct user name We’ve got a few loons on here but surely no one this nutty ? 😂 ...he has plans to reduce the current rate of inflation - running annually at 143%. He plans to help the 50+% of Argentinians living in poverty. He wants to reduce government spending (which in Argentina *is* mostly corruption) and reduce quantitive easing (that is mostly benefiting those who are already wealthy). He wants to block Chinese and Russian political influence in the country. He wants to cut high corporation tax to stimulate business investment. Yes he's mad on some other stuff but there's a reason he won such a high percentage of voters under the age of 43. Neither candidate was anywhere near all-round perfect but his opponent (Massa) would have continued the same economic policies that over the last 70 years have changed Argentina from one of the wealthiest countries in the world to one in the bottom third that's headed towards the bottom fourth.... ...if he's nutty I don't want to be sensible...

Explain that to the next generation who will be paying billions in interest alone, with no perceivable gain in assets or services, under this Government since 2010

He also goes by the name of Mickey Mouse. He could also ask the Chileans how it went when they tried this neo liberal approach.
