Gutting though it is, they did have 19 shots to our 2. Can’t really say they didn’t deserve at least a point. Sounds like a good battling performance from us, though. Onwards and upwards! UTG!

The reason our games are last to finish is due to the amount of time we waste when in the lead, like tonight. We did well in the first half but just didn’t get going in the second. They were first to every ball and worked very hard. And we gave the ball away cheaply. Delighted with a point. Did the virus start to have its effect on Finley and Rossiter in the second half? Plus McCormick is no replacement for Collins. I think so, energy levels seemed to drop very quickly into the 2nd half. Players were dwelling on the ball, misplacing passes and Collins/Coburn hardly saw the ball unless it was hit long. Many of them that played may not have had full week on top of playing Sunday so all in all we take a point and move on.

It was a decent battling performance tonight, but we definitely tired second half and couldnt answer their formations changes when they went for it. Interesting to hear JB on the radio afterwards completely throwing McCormack under the bus for not passing on instructions or being up to the quality needed. Clarke was arguably the weakest link and struggled a bit defensively and when in possession, bringing Gibbons on shored that up because they were targeting our left hand side with long balls, and they had some joy in behind him. Sinclair was hardly in the game and I wonder if he’s wasted as a wingback, but Evans I felt bad his best game for a while. Not sure why we couldnt get out in the second half, but the forwards and midfielders were guilty of wasting possession when in good areas I thought. I guess we’d of taken a point before the game, but to get so close to a win is disappointing. DC doing brilliantly at Vale. Could he get another double promotion on his CV? Plymouth not in great form since they threw away a 2-0 lead against us they've only won 2 of their last 5 league games, haven't won in 3, draws against Lincoln & Burton and a loss tonight, plus got gubbed 5-1 in the FA Cup in the middle of that as well. I wonder if Gibbons is regretting leaving them now. Although I wouldnt have been too fussed as I havent been very impressed with Gibbons. Would rather we got O'Keeffe who went to FGR. Ive always like Wilson for Vale and they still have Proctor to come back, and this lad Butterworth they have on loan from Blackburn has been impressing. SHould be a good game next week I don’t think it makes much difference who we play as wing back or full back, we don’t give them support to play up the pitch, we don’t create any kind of triangles or patterns of play to free them up into space behind their back 4. We look happy to just play across the pitch all the time and hope we can get an opening for the creative players. We just don’t use the width enough. Count how many backwards and sideways passes we do from the wings, it’s unreal. Watch how little support we give to our wingbacks when they get the ball. I can’t recall us working them in behind all season. That’s a management instruction how we set up and play and that’s been the same all season no matter who’s played wingback or full back. Personally I think we’ve looked better offensively when we’ve had 4 at the back.

The team were tiring every minute from half time . First half was a great away performance . Bolton on paper had lots of shots but few really caused any worry. Rovers were guilty of not shooting enough instead we often held possesdion too long and attacks faded away. That may have been tactical, early shots may just hand possession back to Bolton quicker. If you dont shoot though you dont score. We certainly had enough breaks that could have lead to goals had we shot early instead of over passing. The worry is Collins might get out of the habit of scoring with just 1 goal in the last 8 games (?) The equaliser was a little disappointing, it seems we have conceded a few similar goals this season. On this occasion Evans should have closed the scorer down . Evans though overall had a good game . Next up Port vale, how did they get on tonight...

Still masquerading as a professional footballer, one of the worst attitudes I've seen on the pitch for rovers, plenty of players with limited ability but at least they gave 100%.

Good hard earned point last night. All the boys put in a shift. Nice to see the midfield hit men "Finley and Rossiter" putting themselves about. Great move down the right flank for our goal. Good night's work. Bring on the Valiants. Utg

Very true, although with a positive spin it also means we were the better team as we are more clinical in front of goal and harder to break down.😉

Im not sure the 3 at the back give us enough strength across the whole pitch.
Going back to the 4231
Perhaps moving Gibson to leftback Then have Gibbons as right back.
This still allows centreback cover by either moving gibson infield or using Kilgour or Hoole. The full back cover of Hoole , Gordon and Clarke.
This allows (when coutts is back and a new signing in jan) more competition and energy substitutions in the deeper midfield 2. With Finley , Rossiter, Coutts ,Whelan.
The attacking midfield three can be chosen from Evans ,McCormick, sinclair , Anderson , Collins , Saunders even Clarke and Westbrooke perhaps. Although another strong but attacking player might be welcome in January.
That leaves the front spot where Loft , Coburn , Marquis Saunders or Collins can play .
I dont know the stats but we seem to be allowing way too many crosses into the box this season.

Watching the highlights, the goal we conceded is so poor. Sounds like we defended really well but the whole team switched off for that one. Result is good. I expected a beating. But the manner of the equaliser is very disappointing
Edit: great move and goal from us though for balance. Tho their CBs will be getting a roasting!

Didn't see the game last night but looking at Bolton forum sounds like we did a Shrewsbury/Fleetwood on them? Harsh or true?

True but scoring early on changes things,it's up to Bolton to try and break us down.

Only seen the very brief highlights but one slight disappointment with the equaliser, as the ball drops to Charles back stick no one is rushing out to shut him down, at least take the shooting chance away and force a backwards pass.
Without being there or seeing the game myself, all in all a handy point. Bring on Vale.

Just had a look at the league table after today’s matches & even though we’ve slipped a couple of places, there’s a large group including us of clubs in mid table covered by 5 points just outside the play-offs. When you consider we’ve played 6 out of the top 8 clubs away, if we can pick up a decent return of points leading up & during the Christmas period there’s no reason that with a couple of additions in January, why we can’t have a good chance of finishing in the top ten & even a playoff position.
