Not read all 6 pages on this subject but I want to add my comments. If I was involved in either the premiership and EFL, with all information regarding the high temperatures over the next few days, then all premiership and EFL games should be postponed. This would be a health and safety issue to protect both players and supporters, but mainly the players who in all onnesty should not be running about in such high temperatures. How would the authorities feel if any player collapses with heat exhaustion? Postpone all fixture today!s Don’t agree , with all due respect we are talking about professional athletes here , Like i said earlier I have done two 10 k runs this week which ( because I’m overweight and 39 ) took me roughly an hour and ten mins. It was unpleasant but I took all the relevant precautions as anyone with half a brain would and completed both runs with no issue. It would be sensible for supporters with health issues to possibly think about attending but that would be their choice, to cancel / postpone a game of football due to our recent heat would be an over reaction in my opinion. I mean no Ill feeling or disrespect to anyone who doesn’t agree it’s purely my opinion , i hope you read it as that also my friend UTG SAS soldiers have died of heat stroke training in hot weather so the professional athlete argument is a bit moot.

Not a moot point at all , my father worked for the MOD and was based at the royal marine reserves in Clifton for the best part of 30 years and they still trained whatever the weather , Also , please do not try and compare a 90minute football match to the training regimes of the SAS , they are worlds apart.

Of course they are, spot on. So after 7 pages of talking about something that is never going to happen and was never going to happen are we any the wiser? Its August, it’s hot, teams always have water bottles available. Presumably they will take water breaks. Perhaps a little common sense? UTG!

Thanks for your input , you clown Forgot to add , I think you know the comparison I was making , you’re just trying to be clever but failed miserably, if you can’t tell the difference in the scenarios then I’m wasting my time debating with you. Good day sir

Also , you are the second person to refer to my 10k as a ‘jog around the park’ how on earth do you know where I ran ?

I’ve done three 10k’s this week, put my sweatsuit, winter hat and gloves on just to make it harder for myself. Got home and had the shower as hot as it could go. You guys need to toughen up ffs.

Well we had it tough. We used to have to get up out of the shoebox at twelve o'clock at night, and LICK the road clean with our tongues. We had half a handful of freezing cold gravel, worked twenty-four hours a day at the mill for fourpence every six years, and when we got home, our Dad would slice us in two with a bread knife. All in 40 degrees.
In all seriousness I used to do a lot of long distance running in all weathers. At least it was up to me how much water I'd carry or hide for consumption on route especially on hot days. They need to provide water or not have limitations on what you can bring in. At what point does player safety trump supporters safety. Granted there is a point when those at risk should stay home but if there were no - or very few - incidents of missiles then maybe we'd be allowed in with lids on bottles. I've bought a sun hat and have 'upgraded' to the tent end as heat does affect my health. Will neck a load of water before entry.

Game on, you can take water in a plastic container (minus a top) into the ground; those who feel it will be too hot for them, can stay home, and watch the match on ifollow; brilliant, something for ever body, win-win.
