I’ve done three 10k’s this week, put my sweatsuit, winter hat and gloves on just to make it harder for myself. Got home and had the shower as hot as it could go. You guys need to toughen up ffs. Is this post aimed at me mate by any chance ? I think what I posted was quite adequate and friendly but like always all the belters come out as soon as they disagree with their smarmy little comments

Good to see the debate heating up 😉 Not by me , it’s the replies to my posts that have gone down hill , it was all quite civil until the usual bunch pipe up , it’s embarrassing really. I’m done on the subject now. It’s summer , it’s hot.

I’ll chance it with me and the kids on Saturday. They can confiscate the water off the kids if they want but given the heat they’d surely feel a bit mean? I have to say, some of the rules are a bit strange though … couldn’t understand why at Swindon last season you could buy a bottle of water/coke but they wouldn’t let you keep the lid? Really couldn’t work out what safety risk having a bottle with a lid would pose? Nationwide nonsense isn’t it. No teeny plastic fizzy drinks bottle tops that weigh absolutely nothing, but if I really really wanted to in some crazy moment of lunacy… Could lob my mobile phone at any player I like, would definitely sting if it caught them in the bonce. Go figure! Will definitely be armed with my deadly bottle of Evian Saturday lunchtime. How about the vaping mods, some are seriously heavy and could do a lot of damage

Don’t agree , with all due respect we are talking about professional athletes here , Like i said earlier I have done two 10 k runs this week which ( because I’m overweight and 39 ) took me roughly an hour and ten mins. It was unpleasant but I took all the relevant precautions as anyone with half a brain would and completed both runs with no issue. It would be sensible for supporters with health issues to possibly think about attending but that would be their choice, to cancel / postpone a game of football due to our recent heat would be an over reaction in my opinion. I mean no Ill feeling or disrespect to anyone who doesn’t agree it’s purely my opinion , i hope you read it as that also my friend UTG SAS soldiers have died of heat stroke training in hot weather so the professional athlete argument is a bit moot. When was the last time ? There was a guy who died but he was not SAS and was training on Salisbury plain, the post-mortem later showed he had been taking ecstasy the night before. I am old enough to vividly remember the summer of 76 and , although temperatures never got as high, we had persistent high 20’s for a prolonged period but no one took time out, postal worker carried on working and it seems we have gone soft. It will not be long before it’s cold and wet and people will be yearning for hot weather. Make the most of it while you can

Played some decent Hellenic level footie in these conditions some 15 years ago, not pleasant but it’s far from life threatening stuff with the appropriate drinks breaks etc

Interestingly in spite of the inquiry the SAS chiefs have still not drawn up guidelines for training in hot weather conditions. A total.of 20 SAS soldiers have died in the Brecons since 1984, approx one every two years.

I had not heard of this but it’s no surprise as it really is survival of the fittest in the regiment and the guys who are picked or volunteer are told, in no uncertain terms, what to expect and what could happen. I guess the desire to be picked can sometimes override common sense. I find it fascinating how the US navy seals can alter their core temperature by using techniques that they are taught and trained to use.

Well this old boy won't be taking the 200 mile round-trip to the Mem on Saturday due to the temperature predicted. OK in the car with air con , but just don't fancy it, early start, busy summer saturday and in both directions due to the early kickoff.

I will not be the least bit surprised if the EFL make a ‘blanket’ decision tomorrow to postpone all league matches. I cannot recall any football match being played in the UK in these temperatures - EVER - they are exceptional and imo should not be taken lightly. Posters have mentioned other places around the globe where matches are played in these conditions but this is Northern Hemisphere Europe with European players. 35c equates to 95F - dangerous by any standards.

Possibly. We are pre warned though, so can take steps to hydrate and cream up (🤫). The cost implications will be massive with the knock on effect as many clubs will have prepped food, drinks, programmes, restaurant and corporate, travel etc, not to mention the TV rights. If it's gonna be called, it should be called now.

Don't see the problem in situations like these to shifting all matches to evening kickoffs. In our case just tell Avon nd Somersets finest to turn up on Saturday night, no doubt they won't fancy that!

In our case just tell Avon nd Somersets finest to turn up on Saturday night, no doubt they won't fancy that! Agreed but will never happen. The tiny minority of dickheads in our fanbase means we play with reduced capacity, can’t decide our own kick off times and are not even trusted to have tops on our bottled water.
