Well BG proved he couldn't manage using GC's players.
He's now proved he can't manage using his own players.
Time to see if we can manage without him.
It's clearly a disaster. He's not a new manager any more, so the 'give him time' thing doesn't apply here.

Plenty of positives to take from today's performance. Positives: Good to see Ehmer get on the scoresheet today from the header. We forced their keeper into a save. Great to see us resort to the long ball tactics which served us so well the first half of last season. We are showing that you don't really need a central midfield to hold out for 80 minutes. We are starting to look comfortable - when the ball is out of play. More players got 90 minutes under their belts. We didn't throw away a lead today. Defence is beginning to gel as we only lost 2-0 to Ipswich this time round. Pitch looked fab. Negatives: Attendance was poor today. Teams may now be aware that our plan A is to get a wide free kick and get the big men up. Ben Garner's baseball cap trend taking hold. The fact that he dresses like most of my friends teenage sons is just one of the very worrying things about him.

It’s hard to imagine anyone could have done worse from the position we were in after WE WON AT IPSWICH last December isn’t it? If we’d had a competition to appoint a random fan as manager to replace Coughlan they could hardly have done worse than this clown! Garner Out! I would have kept things as they were just added the odd player here and there and top 6 would have been realistic. Garner ripped it up and started again like he was playing football manager on his computer. Yes I was always of the opinion of the caretakers continuing to the end of the season. They would have kept the same system and play the same way. We are used to new managers coming in when we are on a poor run so we want them to change things. It was always going to be different with a new manager wanting to do things his way when we were doing so well in the league. We would all happily take boring football again if it meant we would be in the top six.

Given the few points he has picked up you’re right, how could a fan possibly have done any worse?! Even an electric one...... Less hot air in the presser.

That was a painful watch. Dear oh dear, I'm struggling to think of any positives. I guess the only one is that we didn't lose by more.
Our midfield has to be the worst I've seen in 40 years following Rovers. Maybe not technically but where is the energy and desire. Nobody in midfield can tackle, nobody can drive forward with the ball and nobody seems to care. Westbrooke was a 1/10 today and Grant not much better. I felt like getting them by the scruff of the neck and shouting put some f*cking effort in. Give me Ogogo, O.Clarke and Sercombe any day. I would play Hargreaves and Ogogo in midfield next week, at least they'll put a shift in and their passing and ball retention couldn't be any worse.
Utterly deflated after watching that sh*t. More performances like that our our attendance wont improve even if fans are allowed back.

I think one of my biggest problems with Garner here is that last season you'd get 20/30 minutes of absolutely superb football where you'd batter the opposition - probably the best football I've seen Rovers play. We'd not score, players would be nackered and in the 2nd half we'd get stuffed and lose 3-0.
Whilst I was firmly in the Garner out camp last season, you could at least see there were some signs at times. This season though, 4 games in and we haven't seen a single good move - and this is with his own squad. Worrying times, 6 games to save his job.

I honestly don't think our players are bad, they weren't last season, and I don't think they are this season (one or two of the new players excepted, and I think we're asking the new strikers to fill huge shoes without giving them the right conditions to be able to step up and do that)
I think there's only one part of this puzzle that doesn't fit.

I would but I don’t think most on here would, they couldn’t wait to get rid of our manager who had us set up as a very tough unit playing very successful league 1 style football and were all calling for a man who wanted us to play sexy football. Now they’ve got it.

Just as a bit of an aside from the on pitch rubbish....why did Ipswich (and I assume all away teams until the rules change) have to get changed in the bar area behind the Thatchers end? Surely the away dressing room is “socially distanced” from the home one?

We need a ball carrying midfielder to transition us from defence to attack. We have been missing one since Linsey left. We pass it around the back and as soon as if get to midfield we just hoof it long or pass it sideways. Also upson and grant are both equally passive and should never be played together again.

What the hell was that? Keeper good Defence & Midfield slow & weak Attack - nothing
Looks to me he set up for a draw, no tempo to the play, I just can’t see this passing game we are supposed to be playing. Ipswich didn’t play great, but I felt they always had another gear. Positives? I ain’t got to get the bus home.

Yes but they were different players who played for each other largely! So far under BGs team it’s like watching a Sunday league game? But I never criticise our manager but we should have gone in house last season after GC left to keep things the same. Now it will be difficult for a new manager with this squad? It’s going to be a tough season with the unfancied teams doing well so far? This is life with no gas or oomph and no electric energy. Just leaky water. Thank god we have Jakkola who stands out a mile in our squad; and he is a goalie!

So errrrr, what's the excuse we're going with today? It’s because we had no fans in the ground.

God knows why he was pushed forward on the right hand side - presumably to keep Garners stupid formation. Upson for Nicholson could have seen us play a 3 man midfield with Westbrooke having an opportunity to take control of the game with Grant and Upson sitting a bit more. Hanlan could have then had a strike partner.

Was just about to say at least we’ve defended well these two games and then Upson misses the ball and Kilgour gets turned inside out far too easily! I was disappointed with Kilgour today, he looked far too ponderous for the most part. Without Ansi, we'd have lost by 4 or 5.
