Not sure if anyone else agrees but the similarities between this team and DC's team in his last season seem so scary to me. Both had great windows signing players who were very vouched for by their respective fanbases; Upson, Matthews, THD, Rodman, Matthews etc vs Westbrooke, Grant, Ehmer, Nicholson etc. Both will probably talk solely about missed chances when it comes to pressers "oh we missed this chance and this chance, if we'd have scored it'd have been a completely different game." Both had fans hyped of a playoff/top half finish, both were ridiculously underwhelming. Both were very capable of getting good draws against top teams, but when it came to actually winning games both seem useless Both had awful form post-December of the previous season Both very clearly lack major attacking threat after selling their key asset. Maybe I am being a bit premature, and I'll need to see how we play against the likes of Northampton, because we did start very poorly last season under Coughlan, but then again we were playing very well when he took over, unlike Garner. Also seen comparisons with DC in the Conference, which I would say were valid if the key wasn't the fact we'd dropped down a league. We're still in the same league that Garner was awful in last season. I am truly, truly worried about this team. I don't think we've played as awfully as under other managers i've witnessed us under, but the similarities between this season and Clarke's last seem so striking to me, wonder if anyone else agrees? The hype is all in people’s heads! This forum winds itself up like an echo chamber and then there is an explosion of grief like a volcano when everyone realised that these new players are as sh** as the last lot. The truth is, we’ve gone backwards. We were a good long ball team, in our quest for sexy football at the expense of results we are now a sh** long ball team.

Dreadful, limp wristed performance. Majority of the players look like they can't be arsed. Bored out of my mind watching that today.

Get Nigel Clough in before someone else snaps him up. Good shout that, seems like the best we could hope for at the moment.

Garners taken over a decent hard working squad that were doing very well and dismantled it and we are going down if he’s not sacked before it’s too late. He’s torn everything we had apart and f**ked it. It’s hard to imagine anyone could have done worse from the position we were in after WE WON AT IPSWICH last December isn’t it? If we’d had a competition to appoint a random fan as manager to replace Coughlan they could hardly have done worse than this clown! Garner Out!

Just logged back on and saw 18 pages and just knew we'd lost. Always far more posts when we've been beaten.
Sounds like it was a dire performance, when we really needed to show improvement at the very least.

Given the few points he has picked up you’re right, how could a fan possibly have done any worse?!

What's disappointing is it looked like they were interested at Sunderland, today was just as bad as any game at Mem has been under Garner, plus what's happened to all the promising youngsters, even Hargreaves didn't get a run out today.

Cheer up gasheads, we’ve got Doncaster away next week who won 3 -1 at Charlton today 😂. I’m looking forward to it, UTG! 👀👀

I would have kept things as they were just added the odd player here and there and top 6 would have been realistic. Garner ripped it up and started again like he was playing football manager on his computer.

It’s hard to see where a win is coming from if Garner stubbornly sticks with this formation. People going on about Ogogo or Sercombe but put either of them in our midfield with this system and they’d be equally as bad. We will continue to be outnumbered and outplayed in the engine room unless the system changes.
IMO the signings are largely very good but being made to look poor in this formation. I hope this isn’t going to cause long term damage to their confidence.
A switch to 4-3-3 would surely be better?
One positive was my first experience with iFollow which worked perfectly. Unfortunately, even with the free home pass I don’t think I’ll be watching again for a while. I wish I’d opted out and asked for a ST refund!

Plenty of positives to take from today's performance.
Positives: Good to see Ehmer get on the scoresheet today from the header. We forced their keeper into a save. Great to see us resort to the long ball tactics which served us so well the first half of last season. We are showing that you don't really need a central midfield to hold out for 80 minutes. We are starting to look comfortable - when the ball is out of play. More players got 90 minutes under their belts. We didn't throw away a lead today. Defence is beginning to gel as we only lost 2-0 to Ipswich this time round. Pitch looked fab.
Negatives: Attendance was poor today. Teams may now be aware that our plan A is to get a wide free kick and get the big men up. Ben Garner's baseball cap trend taking hold.

He can only still be here as a bet. Perhaps the board pumped a fair sum on relegation pre season to pay for the fruit market?

So errrrr, what's the excuse we're going with today? I dunno but I can’t wait to hear it! I’m not a a Garner out person (yet) but that today has seriously got me very very worried. I just can’t work out what we are trying to play? I think we have some good players there but it looks like they are actually more confused than me! Where do we go from here? f**k knows, I know where I’m going back to the fridge and me old mate Stella! Bless her.
