Morning all,
Hope all you ladies and gents had a lovely Xmas.
So here we are then. About this time last year, I had a bet on Ben Garner to be our next gaffer at about 16/1. If you told me back then, he would be manager this time next year then I would have thought I was quids in! But such is football, here we our a year later with a gaffer in between and Ben Garner only now arriving as gaffer, it's a funny old game. I was confident Coughlan would keep us up, but I never expected in my wildest dreams to be 4th in the league on Boxing Day 2019. I love the fact that Garner is a left field appointment, and personally think we are taking the gamble at the right time. We are pretty much certain not go get relegated this season, so why not roll the dice. There's not many managers who didn't play the game, this is his first managerial role too. That is a slight worry but everything else on his CV looks good, and he has some good links with our club before coming here. I'm glad we haven't got down the ole experienced route, as we definitely seem to be better suited to players and managers who are young, and hungry to achieve and succeed. This for me is most important quality in a football manager.
Good luck Ben, we are right behind you. Let's give the Dons a good xmas stuffing!
