Hope all you ladies and gents had a lovely Xmas.
So here we are then. About this time last year, I had a bet on Ben Garner to be our next gaffer at about 16/1. If you told me back then, he would be manager this time next year then I would have thought I was quids in! But such is football, here we our a year later with a gaffer in between and Ben Garner only now arriving as gaffer, it's a funny old game. I was confident Coughlan would keep us up, but I never expected in my wildest dreams to be 4th in the league on Boxing Day 2019. I love the fact that Garner is a left field appointment, and personally think we are taking the gamble at the right time. We are pretty much certain not go get relegated this season, so why not roll the dice. There's not many managers who didn't play the game, this is his first managerial role too. That is a slight worry but everything else on his CV looks good, and he has some good links with our club before coming here. I'm glad we haven't got down the ole experienced route, as we definitely seem to be better suited to players and managers who are young, and hungry to achieve and succeed. This for me is most important quality in a football manager.
Good luck Ben, we are right behind you. Let's give the Dons a good xmas stuffing!
It’s a new beginning from a totally unexpected lofty position.Gasheads should be,and are I believe, fully behind the new man.We will see today but it feels like there is fresh hope that we can actually achieve something this season.UTG.
“We’re just a mad side, the way we do things, the way we come back”
It's got 7-6 written all over it. 0-5 at half time when the players told the manager that JCH is the striker and not the goalie, the change around worked wonders. In other forecasts, pasties will be sold out by 10am, and it will rain. And rain...
Buzzing for this. Hopefully a big crowd and a big atmosphere to welcome the new manager. Sing your hearts out for the lads and make it intimidating for the opposition and roar us onto another 3 points to keep the pressure on those around us in the table. 3-2 Rovers.
