IF is a very small word that can mean so much? IF your Auntie had a pair of bollocks she would be your Uncle. Don't you think my family has been through enough without bringing that back up agai........ The loss of Anderson and Wood was in my view the deciding factor, our support bowlers just weren't good enough whereas the Aussies have 5 quick bowlers than can rotate and keep fresh and they are at you all the time. Runs set up the gamevbut bowlers win it.

86 - 1 at lunch a decent start, just waiting for the usual collapse now!

Now dropped for a third time just after lunch. If he doesn't get a century after these chances he needs shooting.

Smith alone will knock off these runs. Don't want to alarm you, but are you aware that this is his favourite ground in England!

So at tea we're 193/2, basically 262/2.
We're just over half way through the game, with the weather looking good through Monday.
Just bat & bat & bat, plenty of time, bat till this time tomorrow (if possible) should give a lead of 500, then go all out for the 10 wickets.
Saying that though, you know what England are like, we'll get bowled out this evening, and Australia will chase down 300 odd tomorrow!!!!

Just keep batting. The pitch will keep wearing. Buttler is looking good, and we've still got Leach to come.

Sam Curren has shown why he should have been in the team from the first test. Ok, not at his best with the batting this time around but he should be the fourth seamer in the team with Stokes as a fifth option while he concentrates on his batting.
If Jimmy Anderson makes a return a four of him, Broad, Jofra and Curren with a spinner and Stokes would be a very good attack. When Anderson does retire, you will have the likes of Woakes for the home matches and Mark Wood for the away matches on the those quicker pitches. We saw what he did in the Caribbean last winter and it will be crucial to try and keep him fit for the next Ashes series.
As for the batting, Burns has got his placed nailed down so far. Denly was better yesterday and will surely now keep his place in the winter. Buttler has done better in this test and been better than Bairstow who may now loose his place to one of the younger up coming batsman.
