Give Ellis another 10 seasons and if he ain't performing consistently then get rid. Yes but in 10 years time people will still be banging on that his goal ratio of 0.00289 goals per game doesn't matter because he once scored 4 goals in a game once... And we have to keep him in the champs league as he scored for fun in the conference including at Wembley

Ellis small goal tally helped us to gain 2 promotions and gave us all great pleasure and new owners.

Every player who has ever played has made a mistake but that aside Ellis frustrates the hell out of me. You know exactly what you'll get from Gaffney & James a bare minimum 100% effort even if the quality isn't there. With Ellis he seems to blow hot & cold but his decision making is the thing that constantly let's him down. Today was a prime example time to pick an easy pass & has a brainstorm. That apart I thought we more than held a very good side. They looked average in 1st half but I think that was as much down to how good we were as them being poor. 1st time I've seen Harris & liked the look of him good competition for Brown. We looked solid again & thought Clarke & Lines were both superb, Sinclair does what he always does & Bodin looked dangerous. To me we look a couple of quality forward players short of a play off chasing team.

Just a mistake, they happen.
You can't coach that out of players, you can't really give him a rocket. It wasn't really bad, it was just stupid.
He knows what happened, we know what happened. Bollocking him won't achieve anything constructive. Work rate can be suspect so that's what would attract the bolocking.
To anyone saying of gafney and Ellis - just look at Ollie Clarke. Most of my terrace compatriots were of the opinion OC is too old to keep nurturing and needs to be shipped. Look at him go now.
Ellis scored some important goals for the club and won us a game this year on his own. Give the guy a break. He's a rovers player.
I didn't like him going to a city game. That's the only mark I give him, that and the occasional lack of effort.
I am also concerned sometimes as I hear he is good mates with a lot of 82 players so if he did ever become a 20 goal league one striker I am sure moving there would be even easier than it was for the weasel. I don't use snake as I find it an insult to snakes. i guess we have the gentleman agreement.

I'm not arsed about the back pass, it happens but he simply doesn't work hard enough regularly enough to make it in L1.

I have had enough of watching Ellis struggle to control the ball, pass the ball and have no football brain. He can shoot but he can't live off the Northampton game. Just my opinion but all three of our strikers today were hard working but poor.

I will leave to DC to decide on whether he is league one as I am not sure what makes a league one player. I guess it's down to who we can get.

Surely what makes a league one striker is one capable of scoring, or at least making assists, none of ours now seem capable of doing either, what's annoying is our lack of transfer activity in January seems to have now cost us any chance of a good end to the season.

First home game I've missed this season so far, apparently we deserved to win?

All 3 of our strikers were terrible today, I literally have no idea what Luke James brings to the team he is awful.

First half we had at least 4 decent chances to Scunny's one in the first few mins, second half Scunny blasted an easy chance over the bar but I can't recall Lumley making any good saves, whilst BB had a good shot saved. How does that make a draw a fair result, apart from the 10/15 spell when we scored for them I thought we dominated the whole game. Whilst fans say we're not good enough to survive in the Championship how the hell are Scunny going to manage if they go up assuming today was a typical performance from them.

Just got back. Thought we played ok and the defence and midfield did well, apart from the Sunday League error after 15 seconds!! Was very frustrating after seeing off the best they had to throw at us. TL nearly recovered the situation but it was an awful back pass. I suspect the whole tone of this thread would be different had we won, obviously! We were a bit unlucky not to win but most of our goal threat came from midfield with Lines and OC having good games. Leads did well, perhaps Joe P playing well has put pressure on! Bob Harris had a good game and certainly didn't let his winger get pass him often. Joe Lumley gets better and better, looked very safe. Scunthorpe were a good team but we saw off their best efforts for a 15 minute period when we under the cosh. Apart from that I didn't think they harmed us and the frustration was it took a howler from Ellis to give them a point. Their CH, number 5 was a very good player who wasn't beaten at all by our forwards. But our defence dealt with everything their forwards did and Morris their best midfielder was mediocre against Lines and Clarke. Poor LJ not once did he receive the ball played into space in front of him to run on to, all he got was balls played up to him with his back to goal which is not a strength! The one cross that was in front of him he got the header in which went wide. But as others have said our forwards are finding it hard to score. RG should have put it onto the net twice in the first half, when it was bouncing around and from a cross into the box. This will be the area DC looks to sort out in the Summer. Well done the team, we should have won, but we didn't. Move on to the next game! UTG!

They'd be like Rotherham or Burton or like us if we went up, they'd maybe scrape through for a season or two and come back down if they didn't come straight back down. Sheff Utd , Bradford , Bolton Charlton could make it work long term that's about it , maybe Millwall too.

A point earned. February has seen us prove we can live with the top teams in this division and we are still in with a shout of the play-offs. I can see us getting better in the coming months and finishing strongly, where we end up who knows but you know this team and manager won't give up. Ellis - put it behind you son, better days are around the corner.
