Rules...
As the anti-thread to the 'Overrated Bands and Singers' one, nominate your favourite band that most other forumers have probably never heard of...
So, I can't nominate The Prodigy as you all have heard of them, even though they are bloody awesome...
...but I can nominate Social Distortion as probably only 10% of you have heard of them and they are a great live band.
Off we go...

For me, it has to be Andrew Roachford. One of the greatest British soul singers/songwriters ever, but he just didn't receive the recognition he deserved.

Ryan Adams (Ryan, NOT Brian). One of the best singer songwriters out there and superb live. Band wise Band of Horses are an incredible American band who no one's heard of over here.

Agree, forgot they existed, you can hear all the different bands that influenced em in the early stuff It's been a while since I went back and listened to the early stuff...I saw them (live) from the wings then they played the Astoria in London in 2005...purely by accident as I was working in the club night that was being held afterwards, but saw the last 30 mins of the gig and was hooked! Thought of another one...Skunk Anansie - I think it was the Colston hall in 1997, but some of their more recent stuff is as good but not getting the same kind of audience...shame...

X-ray spex , preaching the eco line, before it got trendy
adam and the ants not the sloppy totp stuff but the earlier stuff
Splodgenessabounds , most people will remember two pints of lager and a packet of crisps and two little boys, but they did some blinders like blown away like a fart in a thunderstorm, suggest listening to in search of7 golden gussets.
symarip
cocksparrer brilliant Oi band still going strong
Last resort again fantastic Oi band, never got the credit they deserved
4-skins formed on the terraces destroyed by the press and the bbc ,the band were never racist

The Vaccines. Love 'em. A bit like a very weird and very English mix of the Ramones and REM. But this is my fave - a Teenage Kicks sort of song updated to nowadays. I like it anyway.

Hüsker Dü, The Replacements and F*cked Up should be household names. Well the latter are but only in Canada.
Big Country don't get the praise they deserve for me either.

That's a shame baggins Big Country were the first band I saw play live back in 84 they were superb and Adamson himself was very underated.
Big Country were the benchmark for me when it came to live shows and the first band to surpass them were U2 when they toured with The Unforgettable Fire and again with The Joshua Tree.U2 don't seem to popular on here but during the mid to late 80s they were untouchable live.
