No reason why we can't get a result at Mansfield. Their home record is nothing special and we seem to be quite competitive at the moment. Really? Our away form/results against the top L1 sides is shocking, the only game we've avoided defeat was at Rotherham and they haven't turned out to be the force we thought they would be. We probably haven't been able to train outdoors this week just to make matters worse. We have a better home record than Mansfield. Admittedly we lost at Reading (who have the second best home record) but really should of taken something from the game. The other teams with the best home records are Stockport, Huddersfield, Peterborough (that we have played) which in my opinion has been a really tough start away from home. Only really Huddersfield that we weren't in the game.

We have an unusual history in relation to The Stags.
One or two less than welcome outcomes over the years.
Overall, we have just edged the results.
We have been victorious on 22 occasions and lost 17 times. 14 other games were drawn.
This overall summary disguises a strange spell of results over many decades.
Between September 1931 and January 1990 The Gas won 13 of 19 home games and drew the other 6.
From September 1946 until October 1988 The Stags won 11 of 14 and drew 3 at Field Mill.
No AWAY wins for many many decades. Can anyone explain this pattern?
There is no obvious sequence of results in recent times.
While the history books are against us the current performance of Mansfield Town is a concern.
In their last 30 Home League matches the results are: W * 16, D * 10, L * 4.
In this spell they have lost at HOME by an odd goal to MK Dons, Stevenage and Crewe Alexandra.
Weirdly, on the 6th of April 2024 they lost 4-1 at the One Call Stadium to Crawley Town.
Nigel Clough currently has a side that thrives on their attacking strengths.
They rarely fail to score in a match. Both at HOME and AWAY.
Last season they managed to score in every away match except when visiting Wrexham.
That is some incredible record of consistency.
Goals came regularly from Davis Keillor-Dunn, George Maris, Will Swan and Lucas Akins.
This season Lee Gregory and Will Evans are the players doing the damage.
The historical pattern is irrelevant but the fit and firing strikers suggest a defeat this weekend.
It's almost certain that The Stags will score at least one goal. Can we?

Mansfield are big favourites, we are struggling to score and we havent been able to put together more than 60 decent minutes in one game yet. Typically 40mins maximum.
BUT, reasons to be cheerful (lol)
Defensively we are getting better and better. Just a couple of goals against in the last 4 games, including against some teams that have score plenyt. Taylor is getting better and better. Back to his best. Possibly now exceeding that - adding goals to his game (from open play too) Wilson has been super consistent and these two have been immense. Mola (in his right position) very consistent, and Bilongo coming in at LB adds a real unpredictability when attacking and has been pretty solid defensively. Griffiths outstanding saves and one on ones. If he could get off his line and communicate better, he'd be in the prem. Get RB sorted (Senior back on the bench tomorrow) and we have an extremely solid base with decent back up in Moore, Forbes and Sousa.
Another 0-0 would be a great result, Forde popping up with an unlikely winner and we can start relaxing a bit. If we do lose, hopefully we can still put a 90min performance in and start to show some glimmers in the top half like we did for 40mins last Saturday.

I put this one somewhere between a plucky defeat and a right mauling. If the covers blow off, that would be a good result.

Last time I saw us win there ,Snakey scored a last minute headed winner following an amazing piece of skill from Jake Gosling.Jermaine Easter was sent off. The side opp the main stand was condemned I recall rendering the ground effectively three sided. Great away end which will erupt tomorrow when we score another last minute winner!!!!!!!!!!! Hope Isaac Hutch starts.Bring it on.

Heavy rain storm Bert likely to be postponed another Tuesday evening fixture.
Too cold for gasheads to travel at this time. Save themselves for Blackpool on Tuesday evening
