I think the symbiosis of establishments on the Road and the club can only be beneficial.
Isn't it nice to see Anchor, Fish and Chips bar, and Foresters join the long running Sportsman with support for the Gas...
I personally have, and continue to support these places for years, and it's refreshing that TRASH and the likes are confined to ugly history and dead.
I hope more incentives come from more businesses on the Road ... We can be more of a community and of course, friendly options to pay cash!
Not sure if this is serious?
Yes the club needs to do better and provide better options for the fans, but these are businesses.
As far as I am aware, they do not "support" the club (apart from the 1883 club sponsorship from the Sportsman).
When was the last time the Anchor or the Fish and Chip bar put some money back into the club, by sponsoring a player, a match or even an advert in the programme?
Simply, they are doing it to make more money for themselves.
The Welly allegedly (sic) handed over thousands of pounds to support Trash to delay the UWE move - not because they were worried about Sainsburys at all - they just didn't want to lose potentially hundreds of thousands of pounds in the future if the club moved and they lost hundreds of punters in their doorstep every other week and it was proved to be a no brainer investment.
Without trying to sound like Tom G, if the money Rovers fans spent on Glos Rd was spent in Rovers bars or the pasty huts, it would make a massive difference.
Thing is, it needs someone to massively change things at the Mem.
Less is more? Cheaper options with better organisation (and cash of course)could see more trade and more bar and food profits perhaps.
Can't say the women who is in charge this season has had a great start.
Oh for the days of Robert Lawrence when hospitality and pasties rated in the top ten football fare in Britain and smashing Delilah's Norwich cuisine.
