Reading this thread is a struggle a lot of the time. The division is hard. I remember coming to the gas as a kid and my parents worrying about me being safe and me telling them don’t worry, I’m gashead, nothing will happen because I have thousands of other gasheads who will back me up if anything happens. It felt like a family community.
It doesn’t feel the same now.
It feels like there are two sets of gasheads now which is sad really. People angry with managers, players and arguing between themselves.
At the minute we have a squad in transition. A young group with some experience in there and I like it, I like the vision.
And despite everything, all the abuse, a manager who when in interviews seems to genuinely want the best for us.
Please gasheads, tomorrow, let’s get behind them all. Manager, players and staff. They need it. We all want the same thing, we want to win and we want a united rovers. We won’t get anywhere with the atmosphere are the moment.
At our best, we’re the best fans in the EFL. By a mile. We’re loyal, loud and effing proud. From the off, goodnight Irene needs to be heard.
Up the gas.

Nice op. Supportive and appears genuine heartfelt.
I think we as supporters (and fans), have done that for almost a calendar year. And some have lost, or are beginning to lose patience that the progression of the club is not as much up the league as they would like.
And it's understandable.
So while we can start every match getting behind the boys, it takes the players and coaching and management staff to get behind us too....in an unwritten symbiant contract, I don't see the negative chanting the fault of the chanters I'm afraid....I wholly understand, how else to express dissatisfaction?

I’ve always felt that if the players or manager don’t seem committed then that wateres me off because as supporters we pay their wages. I work hard all week and I’ve got a good work ethic so why should I spend my hard earned money on other peoples wages if they can’t be bothered to give it everything. There have been times over the years where certain players have obviously downed tools and I really hate that but I don’t see that with this manager or squad this season. I’ve never hated a player or manager for simply not being good enough or because of their style of play. I know many others don’t see it that way and demand a top half position and good entertainment otherwise they get quite watery and sometimes verbally nasty at the ground or on social media but personally that’s just not me.[br. Some of the comments on here and many on the Facebook page about Taylor are pretty poor from supporters , he’s clearly a good honest bloke who’s working hard and doing his best , if we drop down the table then he’ll no doubt get sacked but that doesn’t mean he didn’t give it everything and I bet a lot of the people who have wanted him out since pretty much day one don’t work as hard at their jobs as he has at his.

I think there is a bit of a disconnect between the fans and the players. They spoke about the manager being vanilla on having a gas this week and I can say the same for the players too.
The Mem has been very quiet again this season, but you have to give the Mem something to be loud about.
If we can beat a team at home, 11 places and 8 points above us in any kind of fashion and we beat Crawley next week that will surely lift the mood.

Regrettably there are far too many who will be turning up today (and the next handful of home games) who are waiting from the very first whistle for us to dare go 1-0 down, purely so they can take that as the signal to unleash a weeks worth of venom towards players & staff.

Then get caught out by an early breakaway goal and it's effectively game over with the players probably booed off again at half time? Who'd be a football manager!

Personally I don't think we are any better or worse than any other clubs supporters. Sadly society has changed alot since our all together Twerton days. Social media has alot to answer for, both good and bad regarding football and fans expectations. I'm not happy we're still pretty rubbish and still playing in a dump of a ground, but at nearly 64 neither am I gonna lose any sleep over it these days,it's only football, far more serious issues going on in the world. Utg Of a similar age so agree with this entirely. Still, we can all get behind the players more. Lets all try and add a extra few decibels to Irene this afternoon. Going to be difficult today so will be glad with a draw. Dont want to sound too Buckle-ish but my expectations are lower so it means I am not that disappointed!

I agree with both Clockendgas and MTFC, social media is the source of a good chunk of the world's problems. I am getting on for 64, and we have been pretty average at best for a large chunk of my time. It would be good to compete at the top end of the table whatever division we are in, but those seasons have been pretty infrequent once we got promoted to what is now the championship under Don Megson all those years ago. But we all live in hope.

I’m with the OP. I don’t have a problem with people being against the manager or the board, but I don’t have any reason to think the players aren’t honest. They may lack a bit of steel, knowhow, maybe a bit of ability in places, but that’s all the reason to get right behind them during the game. The atmosphere in the ground makes a huge difference to players. I’ve heard it commented upon so many times by players and ex-players. Getting behind your team when they need you the most is the measure of who the ‘best’ set of fans are.

Cant disagree with the sentiments expressed by the op, it's just a shame things have got to a stage where they feel it needs to be said, apart from a scenario when it is clear players aren't trying( and that is def not the case )i cant imagine a fan not getting behind the team, players will make mistakes and things may not seem to be working as we would like, but as plenty of others have said getting on a players back when things go wrong is very unlikely to improve things, up the Rovers!.
