Pretty naive of people to read so much into a one-liner reportedly from Sainsburys' barrister.
Come on..

Basically the Judge has agreed Sainsbury's have a case to answer, so unless they offer us compo before May the Judgement could still go either way but as it's not been kicked into touch by the judge you sense Rovers must have a reasonable case?

Sainsbury’s may well be confident and washed their hands of it as per their interpretation of the contract. Rovers though have kept going trying to push the project forward. (Don’t forget it us taking them to court).
If a case is being heard, then no matter how confident Sainsbury’s may be, they know there is a slim chance they might lose. It is in their interests and their Shareholders for it to be resolved as quickly and cheaply as possible one way or another.
Just because they may have offered us a few million earlier doesn’t mean admission of guilt either. Just cost beneficial to them to get it sorted

if there was a cut off date then it would never have got this far . For sainsburies to say " "If we're stuck with this contract it's as much in our interest to know that quickly as it is the club's." suggests that they are not as confident as they are making out ^ this.
I have worked with and against many barristers over the years and QC's are not renowned for their lazy use of language. It may have been a throw away remark but underlying it is a lack of commitment and belief - Probably.

This game of Poker just got alot more serious. Sainsburys have nothing to lose and if they do, they get some prime real estate in Bristol to soften the blow. I believe the contract is binding otherwise why would NH waste money on persuing something that would not stand up in a high court battle.
This really is David vs Goliath. Sainsburys can afford to mess things about. In legal circles im sure they already know the potential outcome so it will be interesting if Sainsburys settle before it goes to the high court. If it goes to court then its squeaky bum time.

Annoying that we've learned for from that article than from anywhere else in the last few months. Do not agree with your comments.
I think BRFC have played this correctly, giving no opportunity for Sainsbury to say we have broken any confidentiality agreement and thereby handing an "own goal" to them.
I could be proved wrong, but I'd put the odd £10 on Sainsbury's legal team being a bit more worried than BRFC's legal team.
I have a completely free week commencing the 11th May...............................................

100% agree. If the club could tell us I'm sure they would.

How about a fighting fund/collection at matches to help our chances?

If Sainsbury were as confident that the contract was null and void they would have walked away months ago Have they not?

How about a fighting fund/collection at matches to help our chances? I doubt the odd £ is going to go far towards the potential £1m costs should we lose? So if Sainsbury's defence to the Writ is that we took too long getting pp what was the club's response to that defence, surely that must have been mentioned in today's court hearing but there's no mention of it in the press report?

At least by the end of May we'll know what's going on either way, but I guarantee right now that either 2 good things or 2 bad things will walk hand in hand, we'll get promoted and get the stadium, or we'll miss out on both

If Sainsbury were as confident that the contract was null and void they would have walked away months ago Have they not? No, they haven't. If they had the court case would be us saying you can't walk away. As it is, its about someone making a decision about if they can walk away.

Its all or nothing there is no compo on offer. Its poo or bust now. Exactly right. We either win or lose, there can be no mediation unless it is out of court.
