Having watched Spurs dismantle Man United yesterday it struck me that there are parallels between the Managers ;
-No discernable patterns of play or systems. -Constant changes of players and the positions they play. -A midfield thats way too easy for the opposition to play through. -No creativity going forward. -Poor at defending set peices. -Interviews that bear no resemblance to the game just played.
Both have had large budgets too spend and have their own backroom staff and players they,ve signed.
Any bets on who might be first to pick up their P45?.

Ha,did actually wonder that myself last night. Was also thinking about when Gerry Francis was manager the first time - he was a bit fortunate that there were some good players coming through at the time that Bobby Gould had assembled for nothing. A lot is about being fortunate to be in the right place at the right time.

so glad someone has posted just what I've been saying to a few of my mates. Yes they are and how can players lift themselves when the manager is do boring and bland as person like these two! Personally I think both of them have lost the dressing room already this season I can't see how they can motivate their players when they are so planned as people. Time for a change and I'm sure when we are bottom of league one come 5 o'clock next Saturday the owners will take action and dismiss Taylor.

When is the best time to sack him then ? I think he gets to at least the end of October but not beyond that to make a decision.
I wouldn't let this drag on until late November either where potentially a new manager would be setting up a team against Bolton, Birmingham and Wrexham in the first 3 weeks of December ...

I’ve not been convinced by him from day one but after allowing him to invest heavily in the squad he had to be given a bit of time and even up to fairly recently I’ve thought mid November but things have got so bad in the last couple of weeks and although I dislike the phrase I think he’s lost the dressing room - just go now.

Does George Friend go ss well ? Barton's mate Chris Spendlove is the Head of Recruitment. He was previously Chief Scout. How he kept role at the club after his previous involvement in signing dross, is beyond me. I wonder what the process involved in appointing the Director of Football and how many people were diligently considered and interviewed? Co-owner Wael has said publicly he doesn't even believe in the DoF role at this level, so I wonder how much harmony there is behind the scenes?

Does George Friend go ss well ? No. I think we can confidently say MT is failing to manage this squad of players and needs to go but way too early to be writing off the players and the same applies to GF. I think most people thought we’d recruited well - let’s see if a decent manager can get the best of them before we make final judgements.

Not sure I'd call spending 500k on Promise, a rumoured 400k on Shaq, and allowing one of the top 20 best performing players in L1 last season to leave for waaaaay below his market value, good business? We have a fragile defence, only one capable GK, a lack of dominant central midfielders, a lack of creativity and a lack of quality CF options. A mess.

I think most of the players are decent - whether they are value for money is a different matter and time will tell. Why has the defence looked fragile? Senior, Hunt, Moore, Taylor, Mola, Wilson are all decent enough players but have they been given the right system, tactics and coaching? I think not. A good manager and good coach should be able to get far more out of them. We have one keeper but he is a very good one (hope he stays fit). Definitely a lack of creativity in midfield. LT can do that if played in areas of the pitch where he can hurt the opposition. I hope there is a lot more to come from Hutchinson too. The strikers haven’t clicked yet but I reckon MT could have Haaland at his dispose and turn him into Chris Beardsley !!!

I doubt very much he had that much involvement in allowing Evans to leave. The market value is an important point because I think I can confidently say it was quite some way below his true value. All of the other stuff you've named I would tend to agree with you .....

Eric and Pirate, I think you both make valid points. I think we have overspent on the signings we made in the summer, but I also think that they are capable players, and a more competent manager than MT would get a lot more out of them.

Both decent players in their own right, but not really the type that was required IMHO. Spending close to a million on Shaq and Promise is absolute madness IMHO, but hopefully both can add something ASAP. I think the recruitment has once again been flawed, but obviously I agree they haven't been given the right system, tactics and coaching. A competent manager would get more out of the group for sure, but our 'manager' has been nothing short of an abject failure so far. Will be lucky to be here beyond the weekend.

No idea what the actual fees were for Promise and Shaq - not sure us fans will ever get to know that. I’m not hugely bothered by that anyway, it’s not my money after all. FWIW just from the playing perspective I think they are decent players with the potential to be very good players (not in the class of Hayles, Roberts, Stewart, Lambert etc but good players all the same!).

Maybe you should get back to your Ben Garner thread.

You wanted Luke Garrard, didn't you!?!? 🤣 When this creepy weirdo isn't stalking people, cowardly posting threads about former forumers without a right of reply or posting threads about having a poo, he's suggesting the bloke that precided over relegation to non-league football for a consultancy role. 🤡 😆 Thought Shaq looked a decent prospect at York at the time, but £400k? Someone at the club has had their pants pulled down. Again.

I stand by shout that Luke Garrard wasn't a bad shout, had Boreham Wood consistently finishing above/going toe to toe with Ex-Football League clubs in the playoffs with 5x their crowds/budgets and masterminded a number of impressive FA Cup wins over teams including ourselves where it was quite clear his preparation and tactical nous was first class. Why would he not be a candidate you'd have gone for seeing as you heavily promote the non-league game? I'd say his CV is better than Rob Elliot's who you've suggested should be our next manager? I've made my views clear in the Higgs thread, I don't think we need to bring it into this one. You've clearly got a massive mental issue that you can't give the club one bit of credit, maybe you need to start putting in the wishlist thread exactly what the maximum we can spend on a player YOU RECOMMEND just so this can't happen again.
