Oh, and SteveK went with Blissett up front.

The thing Balanta can do is pass a ball and run with it at his feet.Something Mansell and Lockyer cannot do,Lockyer can't pass a ball to save his life and against the standard of teams we are playing there is no need to have 2 defensive midfielders.IMO we need to fit our flair players in the team if we are to turn draws into victories and at the present time we really need to be getting a few victories. Rather than substitute players who are not playing well I would like to see Clarke actually change the way the team are playing by trying different partnerships in the team.ie if we aren't scoring he tends to substitute both the strikers rather than just use one substitute and see how the other does with the original striker.ie DC always seems to substitute Blissett and then may bring on a winger who may provide just the sort of service that Blissett needs. I can't recall Harrison actually playing WITH Blissett other than about 5 minutes in one game where he took Taylor off and brought on Harrison but then substituted Blissett 5 minutes later. I like DC and he is doing a good job but for me he uses too many substitutes and despite this there are a lot of things he has not tried and for me if you have to use three substitutes then you haven't selected the right team in the first place!!!

I'm just pleased we've got a home game to look forward to at last - Torquay seemed a long-long time ago. FWIW Mildenhall Brown McCrystal Parkes Lockyer Gosling Mansell Monkhouse Dawson Taylor Blissett Subs: Puddy Leadbitter (rather than Trotman as we need full back cover - although I'd be happy with Trotman starting) Wakefield Balanta Harrison Gosling?? Not sure we need FB cover any more than CB cover? I'll agree that Gosling can blow hot and cold, but he was impressive in many of the games in December. The alternative would be to start Balanta, which I wouldn't be unhappy with. There is another option of Ellis Harrison playing in the wider role - I know he doesn't like it so much, but he does provide directness from the wing. As GGMI says - My point on FB cover was that Lockyer can cover if one of the CBs or Lee Brown gets injured, with Leadbetter coming on. Trotman can only really come on as a CB - so we have more flexibility as a result wih Leadbetter on the bench.

Is Beardo deffo out then? I believe so. Out for another 2 weeks or so with a hairline fracture of his foot (instep). Has this been confirmed?

I think the last updte we had was SS was off to have a scan, I can't recall being told the outcome? If he a fracture is detected then surely we're looking at a 6 week lay off?
As far as Balanta in midfield what's the point of using a winger/striker in that role when we've just signed an attacking midfielder on loan, surely he's the best option?

Assuming Easter & Sinclair are out and there are no new injuries worries then I'd go with:- Puddy Leadbitter McChrystal Parkes Brown Dawson Wakefield Mansel Monkhouse Harrison Taylor Puddy, Brown, Macca, Parkes, Lockyer, Monky, Mansell, Wakefield, Dawson, Blissett, Taylor in 442 Not sure who I'd like us to play, but that's the team I think Clarke will play

But will be 6 weeks from when his foot was injured/fractured, or 6 weeks from when the fractured is identified/the foot can be put in a cast/moon boot etc, as I assume he's been wobbling about on it for weeks?

Cagastrophy, This is my main problem being that all Clarke has tried in central midfield is defensive players other than Sinclair and the odd appearance there by Gosling. He has not tried either Monkhouse or Belanta there when we clearly have more wingers available and are very short of players with the capability of passing in the central area. Players who have played in the Football League like Balanta and Monkhouse should have more than enough ability to be able to stand out in attacking central midfield. Balanta showed last week on a terrible pitch that he does have the ability both to run with the ball and more importantly find our players with the ball. I do not know if the new player is better than what we have as his play has been limited to mainly the bench for Torquay and if recent players are anything to go by then Clarke will start the new man on the bench anyway and stand by his existing players. Personally I would prefer to see our most talented players in the starting eleven and a more attacking outlook from the start as we cannot afford to get many more draws even away let alone at home.

Balanta has played a total of 6 football league games in 2 years, he's probably forgotten what league football is actually like! I'd be amazed if he started alongside Mansel tomorrow.
I still sense he'll start with Lockyer so he can then keep Leadbitter at RB, if that doesn't work he'll introduce Wakefield in the second half. Regardless with Monkhouse & Dawson or Balanta on the wings, and two attacking FB's, surely we'll be to strong for a Lincoln team who lost heavily all their most recent away games?

Def want Dawson to start, struggle to see why we'd start Wakefield I struggle to see why we wouldn't, tbh. Mansell is our only fit, natural central midfielder, and Lockyer is a car crash in midfield (in possession).
