Sat in the back of our minibus pretty despondent after that.
Turned up at the ground about 2.30 to be met by the dartford keeper taking crosses knee deep in sludge. Was worried it was be called off but somehow 90 mins was played.
I actually slightly enjoyed the first half. Despite the pitch, which belonged in the 60's, I thought we played some okay stuff on the deck. Taylor finished well, after a bit of luck. Mind you he should be scoring chances like that all day as a striker. Inb4 a tbone slur
Mildly at fault for their equaliser, lots of fans questioning why puddy was replaced.
We were comfortable though first half and dartford were appalling. It should've been wrapped up. The space they gave us on the flanks was unreal at times, but the pitch made it difficult to make inroads.
Second half - no comment. We were sh/t. So were they. Didn't see what happened at all for our second. Their equaliser was predictable, was right behind the goal and had a feeling.
Not gonna say much more, we certainly ain't gonna win the title now.
Can't fault the effort from the lads but the quality today was proper non league.
My final comment is a negative one. I'm not one for slating players. I have never felt as frustrated and widdleed off at a player than today. I couldn't help but shout, and I don't normally do that. Lockyers passing was simply disgraceful today and he should be dropped without a doubt next game. He had about a 5% pass completion rate, and that may be kind to him. Simply not good enough. The lad is a decent utility player but his passing is horrendous. This isn't a one off either. Players need to work on aspects of their game but if you can't complete a 10 yard pass to feet I don't really know what to say

Nonsense, we ask a young defender to play in midfield as he's the only option to play Sinclair's holding role, then suggest he should be dropped as he's not the next Lampard, would Parkes or McChrystal do any better in midfield, as they are probably the only alternatives if we can't sign somebody this weekend?

Lockyers pass would have been intercepted but the Dartford defender fell over

I agree with this. It's a bit like buying a cat and then moaning that it doesnt bark. I don't blame young Tom, it's the lack of options in the squad that is the problem. I thought he started well today but had a poor second half. If we had a better option he clearly wouldn't be in midfield. Defensively he did the job asked of him. In defence is where he probably belongs.

Tom's done a job or us this season at left back, right back and central midfield but it's worth remembering that his best position is centre back. If he had a bad game today then blame DC for team selection, not Tom. He's a credit to the club and as far as I'm aware, he provided the assist for Taylor's goal and neither goal we conceded was down to him. We lost because of defensive errors and maybe having Tom in our settled back four today may have made a difference.

So we haven't got depth in our squad then ? Dominic Thomas our first year pro is a midfield play-maker always has been a good passer of the ball - square peg in a square hole ??

To somehow justify his poor passing by playing the 'young' card and suggesting there is no one else who can play in the middle is what I would call nonsense. Of course DC makes the final decision, but you would expect a player at this level to be able to successfully complete more than 1 in every 20 passes. On another note I forgot to mention Easter. You could see he went in for a challenge off balance with his left foot and it was one of those where both players kicked the ball at the same time, the Dartford player coming out strongest, and Easter appeared to jar his knee. He took his time getting up and you could tell he was in trouble. So for the twat behind me to keep shouting "He obviously didnt fancy it" (in reference to the conditions), I thought was a bit, well, twattish.

I've said my piece on Lockyer, I hate criticising players (especially our young lads) but you had to see it to believe it today. The number of breaks that broke down due to stray passes and mis-cued hoofs simply was not good enough and cannot happen again, especially against such a shìte side who were there for the taking.

Nonsense, we ask a young defender to play in midfield as he's the only option Big mistake today imo not starting Monkhouse in center mid and giving Dawson a start out wide. We needed some genuine width in our play, we are far too predictable.

Thanks for taking the time to give your thoughts on todays game. Must admit I am a fan of young Lockyer, always tries his best whatever position he is played in. Having said that his passing no matter where he plays is generally very poor. Definately the worst part of his game by a country mile and I would hope the coaching staff are trying ti improve this part of his game although on the evidence so far this season if they are, whatever they are doing is not working.

I'm a massive fan of DC and I also don't think its all doom and gloom after today. We drew when we should've won but hey ho it happens.
However Clarke got it wrong today. Puddy should have started, he did nothing wrong to get dropped. Monkhouse should have been in midfield rather than Lockyer as well. It is frustrating how Ollie Clarke and Lockyer are not the answer in midfield but he sticks with them. 2 big errors imo.
The other thing was Easter getting injured. That was beyond our control though.
Oh well hopefully Clarke learns from his mistakes and changes it next week. We need to forget about automatic and focus on getting up a good run of form going into the playoffs

Not sure DC has any option but to play OC when he was already on the pay roll, particularly if the Chairman wants to keep him? I'm fairly certain we started 4-3-3 today with Monkhouse in midfield but that had to change once Easter departed.

The Good I thought Taylor was fantastic today (5 goals in 6 games, now). Unlucky not to get two or three. On a better pitch we would have battered them, but they had a bit of luck today with the way the ball fell at times (so did we, but we made our own luck at other points). I also was really impressed with Balanta, he played left-forward in place of Easter, and looked dangerous and impressive with his passing and movement. Monkhouse and Mansell were solid as always (we had 66% possession, shows how controlling they were), and McChrystal and Parkes good from open play (but poor marking for their first). It was also good to see Ellis score today, took a gamble on the defender slipping, and he did. We have great depth up front, and competition for places, with all our strikers getting goals now.
The Bad Lockyer, whilst young, needs to work on his passing. When he's on the ball, he looks so lost. Can't fault his effort, or tackling, but his positioning was dodgy when he moved to RB, and I uphold that this is an area we need to strengthen. Mildenhall was at fault for the first, as he misjudged the flight of the ball and went for something he couldn't reach. That said, I think people are massively over-reacting to Puddy being dropped. Mildenhall did well from crosses all game, and didn't put a foot wrong otherwise. Has anyone actually seen Puddy have to make a save? Other than routine stops that most keepers should keep out? Mildenhall has won us points on his own, and I back him.
The Ugly The pitch, you must understand, was shocking. The ball stuck to the floor, like playing on treacle. So, it was very difficult to get the ball moving at speed, and our attacks were slow as a result. Dartford knew how to play on it, and whilst we adapted well, they were well-versed in their set-pieces, and it played off. Nothing we could do about the second, it was a fantastic free kick, but we shouldn't have been so sloppy to give it away immediately after scoring ours. The journey was long, and I came home disappointed, but not overly surprised. I draw comfort in that we've lost 1 in 25 league games, and that we look like making the play-offs comfortably. I genuinely think that we can beat anyone over two legs, and our support at Wembley will factor to a win in the final.
Heads up Gasheads. 7 points behind Barnet with 14 games to go. All to play for!
