Anyone else concerned that we've not done quid a kid for a while? It's all well and good letting kids in cheap at the start of the season when we were struggling and playing badly but why not try and capitalise on our better position now? Get the young uns in with their pocket money before some sh*thead drags them to Wembley to currupt them instead.

Yes all official. the coach of his team (U7's) has contacted them and they have implimented this. Needless to say he's not interested! Perhaps BRFC could try this north of the river! If you get the kids wearing the kit it becomes visible and then other ask who, why etc.
good initative

Can't believe anyone thinks this is something we can do.
In case you don't know, that other lot are backed by a tax exile who could chuck £50 million at his team and then write it off as small change. We aren't. So what good would going bankrupt in trying to keep up with the Joneses be?
We can't hope to emulate them at the moment, so let's just remain loyal and true to the only club in Bristol worthy of our support.

Here in the Frankfurt area, there are a number of football clubs competing for the fanbase. They include Eintracht Frankfurt, FSV, Offenbach Kickers, Mainz and Wiesbaden. What Eintracht do is interesting. Every baby born in a Frankfurt hospital is giving a 'Welcome to Frankfurt' pack by the city, which includes loads of kiddy stuff, but it also includes an Eintrach baby grow. Right from day one they are trying to get kids wearing their clobber !

Agreed, however back to the OP, surely there's no reason why we can't do a couple of Quid a Kid games? HTE's young lad started coming to games when we were sh*t, but he's now hooked. Maybe offer the chance to arrive early and have a quick tour of the ground, I remember doing this at Millwall with the Young Pirates, and it was quite awesome for the young 'uns to come up the tunnel and out onto the pitchside area on a matchday. Have a couple of players, who are not involved in the team to pop along, so that the kids have a photo opportunity. None of that is going to cost the club, apart from people giving up some time. Make their first trip an enjoyable and memorable one, and the club may reel a few more lifers in.

This is not getting at you gasincider because I know most fans feel the same way and it must be extremely dispiriting being in Bristol at the moment. But how would the Tote End have reacted to this situation ? Cornered on one of the terraces at say at Villa, Portsmouth or Charlton would they (we) have cowered down and said there is nothing we can do ? My view is that we wouldn't and that from somewhere there would come some "out of the box" thinking which would get us out of the situation and preserved our dignity. Take a look at the kids training tops offered by Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal or Liverpool for about £25 Go out and find a top class manufacturer who can design something really special for Rovers in the same quality and for about £12.50 Target which kids football clubs in North Bristol you are going to aim for. Get local businesses who will benefit from raising their profile in those specific areas to sponsor the kits For example, a business in one specific area agrees to sponsor say 60 training tops at a cost of £750 and in return get positive media publicity which Rovers arrange. Rovers throw in some footballs or other equipment which we can source in bulk at much better prices than the kids club could. The kids clubs receive their training tops and equipment before a Rovers match which they attend free of charge along with the sponsors and are hosted by members of the playing / coaching staff. The result is that we stand up to City and fight back plus we build good relations with more local kids football clubs and more local businesses.

Agree we don't need to keep up with the Joneses at every twist and turn, but how much would the same (or a similar deal) actually cost the club? Replica kits cost next to nothing to manufacture (most of the money goes to the company licensed to make them and, I assume, Rovers). Both parties benefit if a deal can be struck. Then how much does some extra kids at the ground cost on a matchday? Next to nothing I guess, since we're already staffed to accommodate 5000+ and if it's planned for 1000+ extra kids, that can't require that much more on the payroll. If City *just* go up, let alone are Champions this season, deals like this will gain a massive chunk of the non-family-loyal kids in the area (and a few of those who's family are already Rovers). We'd actually be better off winning the playoff final than being champions *if* City are either in the top two or win their playoff final in terms of the impact on local kids. So let's pretend we have a marketing department and blatantly copy them. Can't hurt too much financially. Doing nothing will kill us in the long run...

back to the original question.... I believe "Quid a Kid" should apply for every home game anyway! it's a post I started a few months ago and with interest I do believe the club were trying to think of a way to please? not sure if it was just sweet talk tho?

Probably can't do quid a kid for the games now due to the flexiticket which came in this season. Also regarding the tour of the ground etc do the club still do the Saturday club for groups where they have the training session at golden hill, lunch and tour of the ground and then tickets in the south stand?
