Are we still giving the anti vaxer oxygen? ππ I hope so. He's as entitled to his opinion and to share that opinion as you are. Not only that, he doesn't get deterred by the few on here that effectively bully him.

The excess death change is an interesting one (well for statistics nerds like me). Clearly the previous model was flawed. It just took an average of the last 5 years (adjusted by season) and compared it to current deaths Pandemic aside, the UK has an ageing and growing population. So if you have more people in total as well as (on average) older people, you will have more deaths - that's just what happens with more people, older people and more older people....

Iβm no stats guy, but surely itβs the other way round? More young people are moving to the UK, and I guess itβs growing faster than the mortality age? So if anything, shouldnβt deaths, as a percentage at least, drop?

The ageing population puts a larger and larger percentage of people in the older age brackets, and the increase from younger immigration is a smaller factor. Either way though, just calculating 'excess deaths' as a rolling average is bad maths on any level....

But this thread is not that Some of the language and childish name calling on this thread is most certainly bullying. It gets a bit silly sometimes, but that's the nature of forums. I would argue that being rude is less of a crime than spreading unfounded stories from a completely unqualified view point whilst accusing others of only in it for the money. Everyone is entitled to their views, but to relentlessly repeat because of some obtuse article is borderline delusional.

I'd actually be curious to know whats fast, people turning 70 or incoming migration below lets say 40. But yeah doesn't really matter really, we're of the same opinion

I'd actually be curious to know whats fast, people turning 70 or incoming migration below lets say 40. But yeah doesn't really matter really, we're of the same opinion The median age of the population has increased at every measurement since the mid 1970s (1975 32.8, 1985 34.3, 1995 35.5, 2005 37.7, 2015 39.0 and 2025 is predicted to be 40.5). Most of the increase in total population is coming from people dying at an older age even when we allow for a slowing birth rate and immigration of younger people.

But this thread is not that Some of the language and childish name calling on this thread is most certainly bullying. Calling out false or misleading information that can affect people's decisions on a serious topic like their health is very important. If false information is repeatedly spread by one person then yes, sometimes the corrections will seem like bullying. One of the few good reasons to bully someone I guess...

Not what I meant, but you knew that anyway. The name calling is bullying and it's childish and unnecessary.
