You may not like the rhetoric or the proposed plans, but it is an issue and it is illegal - other countries have and have had similar problems and many have proposed or already used similar schemes....

Go deeper. Immigration is an issue, become a bigger issue, because of incompetent Tory legislation. The points based systems combined with actions to address specific labour shortages have themselves led to a surge in so called "legal" migration. Putting people into internment camps, or suggesting we should, is deflection and crude electioneering, appealing to the lowest common denominator. |

You'll have to explain, the UK was never in Schengen so as far as I can see the legality has not changed at any point.... |

Okay, many came on lorries rather than boats but numbers are up. The mechanisms to return people were sending low-100's back per year when the total arrivals were in the low tens of thousands. So approx 1% were being sent back, not a deterrent and in terms of the scale of the problem basically irrelevant... |

You'll have to explain, the UK was never in Schengen so as far as I can see the legality has not changed at any point.... There’s no safe routes anymore and the Dublin agreement we had with the EU no longer applies. Brexit most definitely made this worse . Brexit also made things worse because we’ve now got a bunch of nationalist headbangers running the show of which a good proportion are racists . |
