I want to dual boot my Mac to use both windows and IOS so Im trying to install windows 10 via external hard drive as I want to use certain windows programs. Im using a VM machine to install windows on it has installed windows ok but its not recognising the external hard drive so I cant transfer Windows on to it plus it will not allow me to connect to my wifi to update drivers. My Mac specs are 2011 (mid) Imac i5 2.7, 2tb internal drive, running 20gb RAM on Monterey via open core legacy (which runs really well) I did try installing via bootcamp but had issues there as well not recognising the created bootcamp partition deleted the OS by mistake so had to reinstall.
If any computer mac savvy people can help thanks in advance

I tried this a few years back and it was a no goer.
HD upgrade and boot camp was the only way forward for me

Ive looked at this does the program need to be running all the time for it to work or can I just download the trial version to install windows on to the hard drive then forget about it. I don't want to pay for it and it not work. Also how easy it to use ? TIA
