Bit random , and I know it will get little to no replies but….
anyone on here own or thinking of buying one ? Thinking of getting a roller team auto roller 707.
Hired a Motorhome for a 4 day break in the middle of covid and quite enjoyed it and thought the freedom it would give you is possibly a great thing . It’s a lot of money to outlay but when you factor in the price of holidays these days is it a bad investment?

The only problem with Motorhomes is that once you park up, then want to go off and explore places, you've got to pack everything up and leave your spot. Always thought it better to get a Caravan.

Would have thought a man your means would be going to 5* hotels. 👍👍 Joking aside I personally don't see the enjoyment in them. Yes you have the freedom to travel around but you have that with a car! Also they are expensive , a new motor home is what £60k-£70k (how many holidays could you have for that money?) Also costs of fuel, depreciation in value , maintenance costs etc etc. Also how many times a year will you use it, and when it's not in use it'll just be gathering dust and losing value. By going on holidays to hotels etc you at least have a wider choice of destinations and you'll still have money in the bank getting interest (albeit at low rates). My advice would be stick to your 5* luxury hotels. Hope your well, have a good weekend 🍺

We’d use bikes for getting around locally and whilst fuel & maintenance is a factor if it’s relatively new ( hoping to buy one 2 or 3 yrs old ) it should be good for a few yrs . Seen a few motor homes that tow a little car 🚗 , but wouldn’t buy one to start . Fancy doing Scotland next summer for a few weeks as to my shame I’ve never been ! Then Ireland which I’ve also never visited. Obvs we’d use it for our frequent visits to France 🇫🇷.

Don’t get one , I’ve enough trouble in the summer with caravans / motor homes taking up the parking bays in the lorry park ( yes signed Lorry park, Taunton Deane , Exeter services being a nightmare to park . , we have to legally take breaks so to turn up and find there is no parking bays available is a pain Though normally a aggressive hairy assed lorry driver shouting at them gets them moved

Welcome to the road YattonGas, I drive a VW T6 (pop top) with cooker and fridge, use it as a day van to get around in winter, and stick an awning on the side if we are pitching up for a view days, get the best of both worlds with a camper, somewhere to crash out and still accessible in the smaller lanes and leave the awning onsite. Looking at Motorhomes in the next couple of years though as the spine continues to crumble.

As we’re a family a VW just wasn’t big enough for us but as you say you can drive it to more inaccessible places . Thought about tugging a caravan but don’t think it’s for me .

Yes absolutely Yatton, its all about the family set up and what suits your circumstances. I parked up at Woolacombe beach car park in the summer for a whole day next two a couple in a Motorhome similar look to yours. They were both in thier 80's, although they looked about 60, he said where do you live young man, Clevedon I said, oh i cycle up that way most Sundays from Glastonbury he replies! They gave me a tour of the van and it's made us think maybe it's time to make the switch to a Motorhome with a couple of dogs we plan to get in the New Year.
