All the short loans and caution over signings (that i was very critical of) means we are 2nd in the league with a squad of 18 proper first teamers with scope in the budget for 4 new players. That for me is what is going to get us promoted, we have loads of room for improvements. Just wanted to set that line straight as if you say it how you see it its important to admit you are wrong.

We're also in a much stronger position to bring in a better calibre of loanees. Plenty of players want to join a winning team!

I think the intent of gasheads post was to make a general point that it is easier to attract a better quality of player to a team that is winning and near the top of their league, rather than implying knowledge of any particular player(s). Can you please give up the argumentative style of your posts now tbonegas, it's getting tiresome.

Asking a question is not arguing.

Dinsdale. Keep bothering mate, it's a good read and good to see that we can all make errors of judgement, the bigger man ( or woman ) will always admit it ! UTG

If you express an opinion you have to be willing to be wrong as well as right. No ego with me just say what i think.

(Attempting to save the thread) Good on you for letting the DC spark creep into your heart, I know it was hard (hell, I'm a positive guy but even I nearly lost it over Bath). I agree that his philosophy on recruitment is the key, our arse is well and truly covered in an emergency. I almost feel that Tubbs is a glaring abandonment of DC's so far successful criteria of not being someone winding down their career and seeing us as a retirement home but I reserve judgement and his goals speak for themselves. At the time I said on the official forum being non-league and strapped would force us to be ruthlessly efficient or struggle and it looks like it has, even if it has been ugly. Up the Dazza.

If you wanted to then surely you could already include Mansel & Monkhouse in the "winding down" bracket but if anything they are two of DC's most impressive signings.
Back to the OP's point about good calibre loan signings given that none are now really figuring in the starting 11, you could say that's an area DC needs to improve upon on. If you don't class Trotman as a loanee only LDV as really been the only outstanding loan signing and even that was only for a short spell.
The likes of Martin, Cunnington and Wall have mainly been disappointing and Goldberg hardly made much impact.
It's interesting that Taylor's only started scoring regularly since the Tubbs talk broke, but even so he seems to have little understanding with Blisset and that was also the case with Cunnington?
