So the human rights issues do not bother you at all? It’s obviously not great, but then I was in Russia 2018 for a month as well🤷🏻♂️I suppose I’m taking the same line as the Danes, I’m heading there as an England supporter only having missed less than 5 matches of Gareth’s entire tenure. I don’t agree with any of their beliefs I.E LGBT and the alleged treatment of the workers over there. Whatever the death toll figure actually is, they say 37 on site deaths, the papers say 30 odd thousand. Who knows. Also, I’ve never been to the Middle East in any description, as with all my international travels I’m curious to sample the culture and see what it’s like in that part of the world. Though I’m under no illusions it’ll be exactly like Russia & far from the authentic experience for the time I’m out there, merely jazzed up & putting on a front for the occasion. But I’m ok with that. Doha is an awful concrete jungle. There is nothing authentic about that place at all.

Managed to bag few extra myself Opening game for Qatar themselves A few Brazil games Brazil vs Switzerland Brazil vs Cameroon Croatia vs Canada Ghana vs Uruguay Desperate to try and grab a Argentina ticket but with messi announcing it will his last tournament it makes it highly unlikely I’ll get one!! Have been desperately trying to get a ticket for the opening game! Annoying that they moved it so late on as I couldn’t go for it before as it was clashing with Englands first game! Anyway, I’m on 16 games minimum now (19 if England go all the way). Had a couple more games which I sold during the first resale. Sounds like you’ve spent a small fortune on tickets then! Some in my group have spent close to 5k on tickets alone!! Some eye watering prices. Noticed they’ve announced a few concerts/events for club goers if that’s your thing. Think I’m going to give drinking a miss this year as don’t fancy re-mortgaging for a night out

They were only selling them to Qatari nationals so had to go through a few back doors to get one! There are three separate music festivals with some of the worlds top DJ’s playing. I’ll probably go once or twice. Hopefully some bands or other artists play too. Spent a lot on tickets (at least I’ll get some back when England flop in the second round!) I see it as a once in a lifetime event though and I don’t have to pay for transport and accommodation! Even if one day I’m luckily enough to be living in another country that hosts the WC, it’ll never be this easy again to go to so many games! A lot of England fans I know who are travelling are going to more than 20 games!

Part of the opening ceremony too which should be interesting.

I'm afraid it's an Islamic thing, the hatred and disgust of gay people. Not all Muslims of course.
Eg,in survey on the UK,in 2016,a majority of Muslims voted to outlaw being gay.
That's the UK,21st century and you may wonder what other laws they would introduce given the chance.
Maajid Nawaz hope's that over the next 50 years,Islam UK would of reformed, modernised and generally grown up.

Keep your bile to the other forum thanks . What part of that topical post is "bile"? It looks like your blunt post is the only one with any bile in it. In the scenario you don't want facts on Islamic attitudes to gay people, on a World Cup thread,a competition very much in the news because of the hosts appalling attitudes to gay people, then why have this thread?

You have zero knowledge of "Islamic Culture" Prove me wrong I've already done that but you being a sufferer of low expectations (amongst narcissism etc) won't have any criticism. You have proven yourself completely unreasonable,a destroyer of conversation. Not to be trusted. There,I'll not bother with this part of Gas Works.

Plenty of non Islamic countries have laws against homosexuality. Yes Stuart1974,you're correct. Reading your posts on the other forum as well as those tonight, you are singling out Islam (with the 'get out of jail free' card of stating "not all Muslims") rather than homophobic regimes in general. It strikes me as having a deep hatred of Islam rather than homophobia.

You’ve gotta have a covid pass and download some app so they can monitor your movements apparently. Covid test needed definitely. We’ve had to sign up for a visa like accreditation to either produce via an app, or a physical copy (which I have) that comes in the form of a laminated credit card sized pass. Mugshot, passport number etc…to wear at all times, not sure you’ll even get in the country without it. We had the exact same thing in Russia for the last World Cup. Wether this counts as a tracking device, I’ll leave that up to the individual. There’s north of 1/4 million tickets sold for this WC, not sure they’ll zone in too much on a small band of Gasheads/FGR fans😄 Fans advised to buy a throw away phone as the TWO apps you *have* to download are well dodgy . It can take all sorts of stuff from your phone . They can take control of your phone , can access all content , can delete stuff and stop phone going into sleep mode etc 😮
