Hi all, I can confirm Gashead1981's comments that, in real life, I am Steve Lamble and that I am now one of the BRSC "Fans Directors". As someone has noted, I have not posted on here since the appointment. I hope that you will all understand the reasons behind that. However, I do continue to read the forum and obviously if there are important issues that arise I do discuss these with the other members of the BRSC and, where appropriate, with the Board of the Football Club. Please note that I do not intend to answer open questions to me within this forum as I believe that it would be unfair of anyone to expect that within the context of an anonymous forum. In addition there are issues on which I will not be able to comment. However, If anyone has a genuine query or comment or offers of help and support, I would welcome you to contact me directly using the e-mail address now published. I will do my best to answer those questions. In addition, if anyone would like to meet for a chat about anything prior to a game - please let me know via e-mail. I will make myself available in the fanzone area prior to the games. Actually, I don't understand that. Sounds like the first thing you have done since being appointed is stop being a fan. Your colleague is still posting on Twitter, so why do you feel the need to stop posting on Gaschat?

Maybe the guy still wants to enjoy using the forum without the constant bombardment with questions. We all know what this place is like, once he opens himself up it will be a free for all. Much like the dirge that is social media it’s too easy to hide behind a username (or four). I don’t blame Steve for his stance at all. If you have a valid question ask it via the designated channels.

I disagree: "Helen is on Twitter, but I guess e-mails might be useful for those who don't do social media." Why is it ok for Helen to be on Twitter and Steve not posting here. Of course we have some "Special Members" here, who could forget the "Tom Gorringe hasn't responded to my question but I won't tell anyone what that question was" thread. I think what I am saying is that the man should be a fan first and foremost and should be able to post on this forum as much as he likes. Afterall, he is a fan. Those "Special Members" (No giggling at the back @balders ) that's what mods are for. If they are constantly hounding someone because of their position then they should get a ban. I just don't understand it.

I personally think Slam would gain massive kudos and respect for answering a few polite questions. We’ve all longed for better communication from the club, surely that also goes for the SC who have been screaming out for a better show of openness for years.

I think Brian SS used to answer queries on here. Obviously, if people got silly and start asking for information about a new stadium etc, that would not be acceptable.

Why don't we have a 'Ramble with the Lamble' section. Mods can make sure it doesn't get stoopid.

Answering questions as an FD is somewhat different than just continuing to use the forum as a fan, which is what the other poster seemed to be suggesting. I agree it would make sense to answer questions and update us generally as BSS did in the past, but that's got to be a decision made by the BoD.

Although he left after a while because he was being asked awkward questions in an awkward way at an awkward time. I would have thought Slam could have tried the same approach, maybe on a thread called Ask The Fans' Director or something. It would probably end badly though. Having said that, I do think a monthly update from the FD on the SC or official club website would be useful, and I haven't heard much about how it's all going with the new SC/club relationship.

I will think through some of the comments that you have all made. You will also appreciate that I am a member of the BRSC Committee and I would like to take some time to discuss those comments with some of my colleagues when we meet next week. I will get back to you.
As someone has previously commented, we do have our established communication lines. You will be interested to learn that since these details were published I have not received a single e-mail.
In the meantime, I will be at tomorrows game and will make myself available in the fanzone (by the SC Merchandise outlet) between 1:30 and 2:15. If anyone has any queries or comments I would be happy to chat. You can't miss me - a tall old git with silver hair and I am awaiting a hip operation so I will be sporting a jaunty NHS walking stick!!!

I think the fact you haven’t received a single email may be another hint that people (particularly the young) somehow like to interact/ask questions etc on various media platforms. I mean, you have already had a few questions on here, and to your credit have replied. Maybe it’s the new norm nowadays! I thank you and wish you good luck moving forward 💙

Personally, I think Steve could have an official account here where he could interact with fans, get questions from people and build a rapport with the wider fan base.
We could absolutely mod it and do so strictly.
Forums are social media, just like Twitter and Instagram an IMO a vital ingredient to building the visability and relationship of the SC.
I certainly would have used this platform to do so had I had the opportunity of being a FD. It’s a no brainer.
No disrespect to Steve, and he knows I would happily call it as he knows I’m a Frank person and have been with him in the past, but why I was hoping for a younger person on the board who could embrace, understand and use social media in all its forms to connect with the fan base.
It’s such a vital tool in business these days.

I just don't understand it. Do you not understand that the reps are directors and it may not behoove a BRFC director to post views on here ? Also mods are NOT DIRECTORS so ergo should not be banning but gently cajoling , to get as much information as is permitted. This is a sounding board for all but there are certain things that a director just cannot post, for all to poke fun at eh
