Belshaw 7 not very busy
Anderson 6 seemed to spend most the night slipping Taylor 7 fine Harries 3 why didn’t he use his head Anderton 6 useless on the ball but solid
Coutts 2 lost count how many times he gave away possession Whelan 6.5 some classy touches Finley 1 made it an impossible task
Nicholson 6 huffed and puffed and ran Evans 5 meh, didn’t really stand a chance Collins 7 motm battled ran won headers kept the ball
Subs: Clarke 6 did what was asked of him Spence na Pitman na
Ref 0 criminal to produce 2 reds in that non tasty affair Port Vale 5 impossible to rate them really

Belshaw 6 could have prevented the second goal if he had been alert and quick enough to come off his line to smother the through ball
Anderson 6 Taylor 7 Did very well defensively but missed a sitter Harries 6 Did Ok but messed up with the sending off, even if it was harsh Anderton 6 average
Coutts 5 Whelan 6 Finley 0 so much for having experienced leaders on the pitch
Nicholson 8 provided the only attacking spark and gave 100% Evans 6 some good crosses Collins 7
Subs: Clarke 5 got in some good positions but crossing poor Spence Pitman
Ref 1 Whilst 'biased' might sound strong, he was either that or totally incompetent. Take your pick. Port Vale 4 couldn't really fail to win with the ref's support. But disappointed with their gamesmanship (and with the refs unwillingness to do anything about it)

Belshaw 7 a couple of good saves
Anderson 6 not great control Taylor 5 partially at fault for both goals as seemed to be on the wrong side of his man slow on his haunches when turning. Harries 4 terrible and weak decision not to use his head leading to sending off Anderton 5 worked hard Coutts 3 really poor square passes that simply put pressure on the defense, played far too deep needs to be taken out of team Whelan 7 cool head but we dont need him and coutts like to see grant when fit back in the middle Finley 0 deservedly sent off, cost us the game and let the team down Nicholson 6.5 set up the goal with a great turn, worked hard Evans 5 not sure what happened as to why he was taken off, but quiet in first half Collins 7,5 motm deserved his goal which hopefully will build his confidence
Subs: Clarke 6 ok Spence na Pitman na
Ref 5 we made the sendings off to easy for him but generally average to poor Port Vale 6 hard to say if they got out of second gear, buckled for a moment when we had a 10 minute spell on the front foot
Crowd 8 good vocal support but let down by finley

Belshaw 7 some good saves but uncharacteristically slow to react for their second goal. Anderson 6 worked hard but not much end product. Taylor 7.5 M.o.M. a Colossus ! Harries 6 as usual a poor decision that cost us dearly. Anderton 6 a tough night but stuck with it. Coutts 4 noticeable only for his poor passing Whelan 6 he got stuck in and seemed frustrated by the horror show around him. Finley 4 silly boy. !! Nicholson 7 showed class, worked hard and a good assist for Collins' goal. Evans 5 a rare off day, Collins 7 another goal and an all round good display. Subs: Clarke 6.5 at last a proper wing back !, understandably ring rusty but a promising 45 minutes. Spence n.o.l.e Pitman n.o.l.e. Ref 4 generally very poor although the two reds were justified albeit Harries a bit harsh but by the letter of the law correct. Port Vale 6 we gave them the game but they looked decent, I didnt like their gamesmanship but it seems most teams in this division do it.

Belshaw 7.5 m o m
Anderson 7 got caught for the first. Taylor 5 no marking for second, missed header before goals went in. Harries 4 sending off sealed it. Anderton 5 had torrid time from their #7.
Coutts 4 still don't get it. Throw in passed back twice that were hospital balls. Whelan 7 got stuck in. Finley 2 cost us the match.
Nicholson 7 worked hard. Evans 5 not his match. Collins 7 deflection but at least he tried.
Subs: Clarke 6.5 got himself in scoring positions. Spence 3 don't know what he did. Pitman 3 don't know what he did and I thought he was booked after final whistle (?)
Ref 0 so inconsistent he made it about himself so much that even DC conceded some decisions were favourable to him. On face of it, very poor. Port Vale 7 good passing team knew where everyone was, clinical finishing....but time wasting against 9 men tells you where we were in second half and what possibly might have been if we'd kept everyone on the pitch!(?).

Belshaw 7 -inspires confidence
Anderson 5.5 - missed a good opportunity to score early on Taylor 5.5 - not as commanding as usual and missed a sitter Harries 3 - average performance before a brainless moment leading to him being sent off Anderton 6 - worked hard
Coutts 6 - tried hard in a difficult game for the midfield Whelan 6 - not bad in the circumstances Finley 2 - another brainless moment to get involved and leading to a red card
Nicholson 7 - tried hard and provided the main threat Evans 5.5 - one great free kick which Taylor should of scored from but elsewise quiet Collins 6.5 - good all round display
Subs: Clarke 5 - could of won a penalty but for a ridiculous dive Spence 4.5 did nothing of note but deserves a chance to play Finley's role on Saturday Pitman 5 - a stupid last minute booking

Ref 1 Controversal decisions which did affect the whole game and the linesmen didnt help as gave poor decisions with the flags when they did managed to use them. Do linesmen actually know the offside law. There are now too many officials who are incompetant. Games has gone backwards in the last ten years with the roles of linemen and fourth officials. Results in and Sam Nicholson was Man of the Match with a score of 6.73 his second MotM of the season.
The starting XI average was 5.31.
Finley's 1.69 was one of the lowest ratings ever by a niche stat I just invented. With the starting XI average as 5.31, Finley was 3.6 points worse than his teammates. This is the second biggest gap between a starting player and their teammates in these threads. The lowest was Angelo Balanta's 2.1 compared to the team's 5.8 against Gateshead in the Conference for a gap of 3.7 points. Including subs, the record is the 4.8 gap between Trevor Clarke and the rest of the team away to Colchester this season.
With 20 league games of the season gone I'll update the season stats shortly.
Belshaw 6.7
Anderson 5.7 Taylor 6.2 Harries 4.2 Anderton 5.5
Coutts 4.4 Whelan 6.0 Finley 1.7
Nicholson 6.7 Evans 4.9 Collins 6.5
Subs: Clarke 5.6 Spence 4.6 Pitman 4.3
Ref 2.5 Port Vale 5.6
