Only thing he would learn tonight was that most of the "reserves" are not up to League standard and that he needs to sign two strikers to balance the squad.

Surprised people thought Ogogo had a bad game he was more or less the only player getting stuck in and showing a bit of determination. He hasn’t been with the squad and been playing at a lower level so he’s not going to be super sharp tonight. I can't believe anyone thinks he had a good game. Done exactly as I expected and got his standard yellow card. Definitely one to say goodbye to and hopefully out on loan for the rest of the season,it's one thing Ben Garner got right.

Agreed, offers nothing apart from running round a lot, can't wait to get rid of the ball and always guarantees a yellow card.

It is tedious how blinkered people can be. Whatever MK did tonight would not have sufficed. Nearly all crosses came from him and was best of ours tonight We were playing Wimbledon not MK Dons my lover MK = Michael Kellly, honey

Think there were a few of the players who came on who would have been better starters. I wish Walker or Ayungua had started. I like Hare, he has quality. And I like Hargreaves. Tutonda has more about him than a number of the players selected today.
Ogogo is better than Grant, the lack of creativity in tonight's game is not really a reflection on him as that's not his game, although in fairness he does have a few goals in a Rovers shirt.
Let's hope a number of these players can get loaned out.

Papa John will be delivering a football feast to your home tonight @ 7pm UTG C'mon U Blues! Turned out to be a margarita with no cheese or tomato didn’t it Al. I think Tisdale will be clearer on who he wants out after tonight though so every cloud has a silver lining.

Can’t play Westbrooke and Barrett (Barrel more like) in the same team, one won’t run and the other will try all manner of tricks and flicks rather than run. Trouble is it is difficult to tell which is which.

That was like watching the grass gro 😴 I can't really think of a positive. Thought Kelly was ok and Ogogo wasnt great at all but he did get stuck in and showed bit if grit.. Barratt was dreadful worst player on the pitch followed by Upson when he came on Just shows that our strength is not good. I saw a different game, mostly. Ogogo I thought improved as the game went on, and actually made some smart passes into the strikers. Plus he’s the only player we have in midfield who’s actually quite intimidating. Upson does his customary of being both probably the best passer at the club yet also the worst at getting caught out in critical positions. Barrett was played out of position and had no service, but can actually keep the ball and pass accurately. Nonetheless he didn’t play well, just think you’re a bit harsh. Harries did a little more than I expected, which wasn’t much. Grant I felt was among the worst performers. None of the team played well. It was a disjointed affair but I wouldn’t single anyone out really, let’s be honest, who played well? No one IMO. It’s just slightly different shades of brown I agree, Barrett out of position and just didn't have a good game. There's a player in there but he has got to sort himself out soon. Ogogo is definitely going to be useful in this squad. There was a point where he won the ball high up in their half and played a good ball forward to set someone through. That bite in the middle of the pitch is something we have been sincerely lacking. He also played a lovely dummied pass to play Al Koiki through into the box, he shaped to play it in the other direction and just slid him in, defence fell for it and Al Koiki should have done better. I thought Kelly did ok but no one really gave a good account of themselves, none of the players who came in today will be in the starting 11 any time soon imo.

Trouble is it is difficult to tell which is which. One is a good playmaker for this level , reminds me a lot of a young Chris lines and needs to be coached on how to play football when his team aren’t in possession. The other reminds me of Rab C Nesbitt and needs to go for a long run every other day for a couple of months and then think about becoming a footballer.

And if we’d started Brandon Hanlon and he got injured he’d be criticised for starting him, as happened with Anssi Jaakkola. There’s a lot of games coming up, I’d rather stay up in the league than mess around in this glorified Premiership under 21 experience. Well why start them all in the last round then. Makes no sense. Perhaps seen the error of his ways, perhaps players are carrying more injuries than we are made aware of. The biggest problem is only one fit striker.

Not sure I agree with writing off the entire team based on one performance. If Liverpool or Manchester city make 7 or 8 changes to their first team line up and bring in players returning from injuries, or struggling for form then it is possible that the team will look disjointed and the players may not give a fair account of themselves.
Much better to judge a player when you are introducing only one or two players a into a settled and well performing team, new players will often look different. Didn't expect much in the way of a team performance tonight and we didn't get one.
I agree that some players do need to leave to allow PT to bring in new faces and rebalance the team but the merchants of doom need to keep tonight in perspective.

Well BG signed a player called Ben Liddle but he wasn't even on the bench tonight amongst the dross so wonder why he was signed.Think the exit door during the window will be very wide so hope that there isn't a limit on to how many we cam loan out.Totterdown Athletic are after Grant and Upson I hear.

Evening gasheads, Some of you seemed to really enjoy my last blog. I won't do it every week, but I'll probably whack another one up after Saturday, so I've spoken about the three competitions we were involved with on Saturday at 14:59. Please give me some feedback, happy if you fancy tearing it apart, cheers all. UTG Luke allroversarentwe.com/2021/01/12/pizzas-and-the-efl-trophy-both-pointless/

There are no poor players in professional football , each one stands at the tip of a pyramid of thousands of hopeful and wannabe young lads . I only mention this because of some of the comments on here and giving scores of 2 and 3 on players ratings .

Looking at the lineup that started tonight's match, zero goals was always likely

Probably can't read much into the performance or the lineup tonight.
It was obviously done to give most of the first team a rest for the games coming up.
As a couple of more astute posters have said you won't get much of a performance from a team thrown together for one game. (That's if you understand the game at all).
Most of those who played tonight could come in as individuals to the first team and do a decent job. Indeed Little may have to on Saturday as Ehmer is suspended.
The big worry, though, is the lack of strikers which hopefully will be sorted in this window.

I don't know why so many people are getting worked up. We could have played our best team, then we would all have been moaning about risking our best players. Especially on Saturday when we likely would have seen a couple miss out through injury.
The league is far more important. We must have dropped a few points already by loosing our GK and best striker to injury in this competition. We have games coming thick and fast, twice a week.
PT has a huge squad (albeit unbalanced) and he hasn't seen all of them play. He would have learned a lot from this game. He would have seen that despite having a big squad there isn't much strength in depth. Now he can make a decision on who he would like to try and send out on loan allowing him to bring a couple of his own players in before the end of the month.

Tonight's performance has clearly shown we have a decent first eleven and two or three others who are good enough. We quite obviously need a decent centre forward and four or five others to give us a squad for a good go at getting out of this league. I think Tis will be of the same opinion after watching that horror show. "getting out of this league" I'm more worried about staying in it this season! If Hanlan ever joins Nicholson on the treatment table then we're knackered. I really don't understand what our Head of Recruitment was doing last January/last summer. Barrett, Harris, Liddle and Tutonda all now look poor signings and Kioki's hardly up to L1 standard. Football players aren't like knives. You can't just keep them sharp by keeping them in the drawer 😉
