Once the path was decided, surely we then do it as best we can. Anyone making it worse is then in the wrong...? What path? Brexit meant something different to different people. Teresa May could have chosen a more conciliatory path but decided to pander to the ERG with her red lines, turning it into an internal party fight as much as anything. You could argue that labour resistance might well of saved us from the lunacy of a no deal Brexit that a lot of the ERG were desperate for .

You could, although that would depend on whether you saw TM's deal better or worse than BoJo's. The other problem was it was seen as an event, it should have been a process which May's deal was.

Johnny boy looking good for his 81 yrs You can sense the anger. Have you seen the front of the i newspaper? The price of renegotiating is youth mobility, but only per member state and not EU wide. Pity.

Pity. No not seen it but guessing we’re going to try and cherry pick youth mobility with the EU power countries France & Germany over the smaller countries?

Professor Brian Cox…..
I’m not buying this line of argument. Johnson knew, as everybody in the Conservative Party knew, that the Brexit referendum was about heading off the (over-stated) electoral threat from UKIP and simultaneously dealing with a fringe group of MPs in the party who were a distraction and wouldn’t shut up. Nobody, Johnson included, thought the country would actually vote for it. There was never going to be a White Paper because nobody sensible could think of anything to put in it. The expectation was that the electorate would sort the Conservative Party’s internal squabbles out for them by decisively rejecting it and all would be well. As an aside, we have the choice of continuing with this failed non-policy or not, and the current government have chosen to continue with it. I would love to see a White Paper laying out the case for staying out of the single market and customs union.

Did Boris in an interview about his new book say he regrets apologising about the way he handled Covid lockdowns?

Good because it’ll be a nightmare when and if it actually happens

Some of us said this at the time and received a stiff ignoring. We've voluntarily made ourselves poorer, weaker and more irrelevant.

Andrew Bailey has a few question marks over his competence so can see him ousted at the first opportunity, technically he's still got another 3 or 4 years though.

Surely Mark Carney has some questions over his competence as well? Under his tenure the BoE repeatedly had to upgrade low forecasts as the UK economy performed better than official predictions, he missed his inflation target more often than not even before the referendum and some of his tweets/interviews since leaving use very misleading data to push his agendas...
