Great stuff tonight and brilliant atmosphere. It eases the pressure on the team and garner so lets hope we can produce decent performances for the rest of the season. Nobody will get carried away but tonight was great.

Sunderland what goes around comes around you cheating b.....ds, remember getting our player sent off a few weeks back when we were all over you. Your not as big as you think losers I think they actually cheated more tonight than last game. Literally every 50/50 ball they went down like they’d been shot rolling around like slimy cheating snakes then once they either got the free kick or nothing they’d get up jog off to the sideline and then run back on 30 seconds later like nothing had happened. I really hope they don’t go up. Tossers. Yes and it's such a shame for a fine club with a great history. Their supporters deserve better.

Yeah I got that feeling. Almost as if Garner had said ok I’ve put my ideas forward it’s not working I want you lot to give me feed back to tell me why your not making it work I want to hear it ? They gave their feedback , put some ideas forward and what we saw was a formation similar although not the same as coughlans but with the solid defensive mentality with the same attacking roles .regarding JCH not isolated. Or perhaps he asked Maher or Mans for more advice who knows but it bloody worked . Outstanding performance and that horrible cheating side didn’t have a single shot on goal.sorry, I’m going to have to correct you there, wasn’t the very last kick of the game a shot on goal? 😂😂 No it was a header over the bar.

Looks like none of the moaners will be there tonight. Could this be the start of a new, fitter, streamlined and tactically minded supporter being introduced by Ben too. I'll be there giving him earache! How did that work out for you in the end

The manager is clueless, he used the wrong tactics, picked the wrong players, is animated and can't motivate players, can't even beat a struggling team. Parkinson simply has to go. lol All is well with the Rovers side of things though, the Gas are back on track

A great three points which should see us safe from relegation. Seems like a better attitude was on show which proves that the players have a bit of pride at least. One swallow doesn’t make a summer and BG is not the answer but I certainly don’t begrudge him a better nights sleep.

Yeah it was an easy one straight down the keepers throat. It was one of those where we’ll say we were great they’ll say they were really bad. In truth it was a combination of both , when we keep it solid with a back 5 Craig and Alfie in that three with rodders at right wing back and leahy or better still Dennis LWB if he’s fit then as long as we’re giving JCH support and not leaving him isolated then we’ll always have a chance v anyone. Time - 16 months has shown that. But it takes hard work and a will to win with a tough mentality too and tonight we had that. Hopefully we can keep the formation , the style and the mental toughness and this time Garner will just make small changes here and there and not rip it all up and change everything. UTG.

Great result for us and for good honest football (from us) in general.
Sunderland were a disgrace to the game (Parkinson as manager, say no more).
I'm getting fed up with these sides who go out to con the gullible refs with fake injuries, diving, holding heads etc.
They join the gallery of shame with Wycombe, Tranmere and Fleetwood.
The decision to book Hargreaves with what was a clear penalty was unbelievable.

It was more stone than Hadrians wall.

Just back, haven’t read the thread but fwiw. We played ok, found it hard to string 4 passes together but the whole team were up for it. After the first 5 minutes I thought we were showing too much respect but from then on our attitude was very very good. Our defence was excellent and it took until injury time before Blackman was called on. Up until that time me or socrates could have been in goal without facing any threat. (We were both keepers before anyone asks) Obviously JCH was the pick with two goals but several other players did well. I thought Cameron H’s enthusiasm was catching and he kept running and challenging and that made the Sunderland defenders rush at times. Alfie and Tony C were excellent with Harries growing into the match. I liked the way he stood up to the nonsense of Lafferty so that he was taken off at halftime. Rodman had a great second half esp and was the most composed player on the ball. Ollie C did well on the first goal and stood up to them but at times if he would just use the energy he spends getting angry with everyone and use it on playing I’m sure he would be better. But that’s just a personal opinion, others might see it differently. But the biggest impression I got from the game apart from the relief of winning was what a disgraceful display we saw from Sunderland. They were awful. Apart from Semenyo No. 42 who looked very good and should have given us more problems. They spent their time falling over, looking to wind everyone up and diving around. I was sat in the East Stand and someone shouted to Sunderland to stop diving. Actually I was glad to see them doing that because they never started playing football. Had they played a normal game I’m sure they might have got a point or more. But we absolutely bossed them esp after the referee became wise to what they were doing. It took the ref a bit of time but he had a good second half although we should have had a first half pen and how he booked Cameron H ..... I can’t wait to read what they’re saying on the Sunderland forum, they were very confident before!! 😉 Well done the team and BG. He’s taken some stick and must be under enormous pressure but he set the team up well today and the players played for him and it should give everyone a boost before Ipswich. I thought we’d do well and get a point and as I said earlier on Sunderland aren’t that good a side. Stand up to them and they are beatable. UTG!

I'll be there giving him earache! How did that work out for you in the end it worked out well thanks. The club used Tony Craigs 600th appearance to turn any negativity into positive energy well before the match even started. Players were transformed by playing for one of the squad leaders instead of the manager and it was back to business as usual without anyone dragging their heels and not playing near their potential. The fans could smell the gas and players like Alfie were stoking the atmosphere up even more before kick off. A fine effort from fans and players alike and a reminder of how the Rovers should be. Fingers crossed for a change of mindset from the lads, a better understanding of what motivates the players and another win or two to secure safety in the league and steady the ship.

We played 3 at the back with wingbacks Coughlan style instead of a stodgy 4 at the back. What does that tell you?

Expected the worst tonight and was pleasantly surprised. Aside from any manager stuff which I don't think there's much point getting into tonight, rovers controlled the game tonight. Lovely move for the goal and JCH will be gutted he's had a hattrick snatched away from him by a(nother) dodgy ref. Their lot only threatened in injury time which is testament to our control on the night. I completely agree with what others have said, the 3 central defenders with wing backs was a formation that was stumbled upon this season and works. The players are comfortable and just play better in it. Please stick with it! I agree with that except stumbled upon. What we have is an average at best possibly even relegation battler squad in terms of technicality but there is a way of playing that Coughlan found at the end of last season and brought the right players in at the right time to strengthen that and when we stick to that formation and way of playing literally every club in this division struggles to cope with us. Those that remember our championship winning season 89/90 will see the similarities. I’m not saying we should stick with it forever things can evolve but those kind of things take time and you can’t chsnge things like Garner has tried to change things in 3 months. He’s only a kid he’s learning but fair play credit where it’s due tonight he got it right . What a win. I may be wrong but I thought the 3-5-2 was originally played because of injuries, a complete lack of wingers, and a surplus of central midfielder/defenders. It was a happy revelation and credit to GC for then seeing that it worked and sticking with it. Keen not to over analyse one game but I agree tonight backs up the view that too much was changed too quickly when you compare it to Southend.
