Superb tonight we closed down sunderland at every opportunity and never let them play. They never laid a glove on us all game.
The manager got the formation right and the players were well up for it. So much for the people who said BG has lost the dressing room.

Hey.... Jomo's not getting any of the humble pie.... Its all mine.... Hands off.... Pretty sure 94.17% of the forum are eating it tonight Ha, yeah. That was a bit like hot sex with someone you can't stand any more. Brilliant at the time, but when I wake up in the morning it might dawn on me that it's not the best thing for us going forward.

Sunderland what goes around comes around you cheating b.....ds, remember getting our player sent off a few weeks back when we were all over you. Your not as big as you think losers I think they actually cheated more tonight than last game. Literally every 50/50 ball they went down like they’d been shot rolling around like slimy cheating snakes then once they either got the free kick or nothing they’d get up jog off to the sideline and then run back on 30 seconds later like nothing had happened. I really hope they don’t go up. Tossers.

No humble pie. It’s only improved the win ratio to 10%. When we’re at 35% in November then I’ll eat my humble pie but until then I’ll be crapping my pants at the thought of Ben Garner remaining in charge. Whilst I agree with you, we have to try and enjoy the wins when we get the chance. Finally I'm smiling about Rovers again! After Blackpool I wasn't feeling it. I felt we were awful and got lucky. Tonight, I feel like it was getting our Rovers back. If we go back to our usual under Ben on Saturday then we can look back on tonight as a blip, but it's still nice to completely outplay any team, never mind Sunderland in good form. Is this a corner turned? Maybe, maybe not. But for the first time in fecking ages, I'm looking forward to our next game

How can we go from getting comfortably beat by a team consisting of academy players to easily beating Sunderland tonight? I just don’t get Rovers sometimes. Basically he went back to what was working before he took over. Tonight was 3 centre half’s with Kilgour , Craig and harries ( who’s arguably better than msyenese) Rodman right back Leahy left back JCH wasn’t on his own up front like he has been mostly these last three months , he had Hargreaves backing him up every time just like Nichols did and Hargreaves is a similar kind of player. It was like going back to the first half of last season. Solid defensively , get it up to JCH , get players around him - it works. We don’t have the players to play 4-3-3 and get it down and pass around and through teams , most of us could have told Garner that from day one. Tonight hopefully was the turning point , a complete 360 and back to playing to our strengths. I’m not convinced but time will tell. UTG

Even with increased confidence levels I don't think we'll be capable of winning even 2 games on Saturday, let alone 3! careful you dont choke on that humble pie funny boy I'd be happy to eat as much humble pie as possible. Had a slice tonight that's for sure. The rest will have to wait another few games. Btw you realise I was only kidding with my post right? No need to be so tetchy in response!

It’s like they’ve had a crisis meeting to vent their grievances and move forward. Tonight we were a team with fight, everyone did their bit as part of a collective. Powerful stuff.

really enjoyed tonight, we had fire in our bellies and worked hard, big shout for JML and Hargreaves they ran their socks off. We actually looked a team again. I have to say what a big horrible dirty mob they were, never thought Sunderland would have to resort to football like that. Oh and how that wasn't a pen first half i'll never know and then to book Hargreaves was just plain wrong. Bring on Ipswich.

Our first goal was a very good passing move - best moment of the game by miles.

To the stay away fans spitting the dummy, you missed a damn good game and performance tonight.
Fortunately just short of 6k turned up to support the lads and the club.
We’re Rovers supporters, we’re faithful and true...well some are.
Well done to the players and management 👏

Football, bloody hell! funny ole game in it! so pleased for team and especially BG, take a bow Ben, one small step but its a start, chuffed to bits for fans who at last have something to celebrate! does make you wonder though what the hell the players have been doing the two previous games, as it turned out a vital win with Tranny winning! PS COCKERGAS FOR PRESIDENT!! just home and still buzzing, when I started this match thread I said I had a feeling we could get something. Best game of the season for me, real desire from the players and a cracking atmosphere created by us gasheads from the off, and here was me worried about it being toxic.

Great win. At least we’ll hopefully stay up now. Yeah I think Tranmere won tonight they’re going for it and everyone between us and them will be sh**ting themselves for sure. Keep the 3-5-2 keep Kilgour in the middle and keep a support striker next to JCH and we’ll win as many as we lose in this league maybe more and that’s not just my opinion it’s based on the last 15 months. It wasn’t broken it didn’t need fixing. Credit to Garner I know tonight wasn’t his formation or style and Ive been frustrated and angry at the 4-3-3 square pegs round holes but tonight he went back to keeping it to playing to our strengths and it worked again. JCH isolated just doesn’t work. If he’d done that from day one we’d have an eye on the play offs now at the very least. I think it’s taken him 3 months to learn that league 1 is very different from the Premier league and championship but that’s fair enough as a young coach in his 30s with no managerial experience and no experience of any kind (I think ) of league 1 football it’s been a steep learning curve and luckily for him we haven’t been facing relegation as a massive threat ( thanks Graham) Most of us could have told Ben that what we’ve got is a gutsy hardworking side that needs to keep it solid and get it forward quickly. Massively relieved tonight and hopefully it’s a turning point back towards our strengths and not our weaknesses. UTG
