So finally after 2.5 years I’ve caught Covid.
Have to say I feel pretty rough, much worse than a typical flu. And this is Omicron after a vaccine 9 months ago.
Can’t imagine what the original variant was like

Thing is Stuart it's purely cosmetic now bearing in mind the significant different situation we are now in compared to 3 years ago. As most health experts have said it is the data we will obtain that will be important, little health benefit will accrue.

I understand that and not everyone will follow suit, Italy and Spain for example are requiring post arrival testing rather than pre flight. It just seems a minimal requirement that could have been decided earlier, especially as China starts to relax its own requirements and they've been reticent to share details up to now. After all we've been through I feel we ought to be a bit more cautious and proactive. But yes, we are in a much better place now than we were before.

Agree Stuart,it's more about the messaging than much else,China needs to get it's act together and have an effective vaccination programme. What their prolonged lockdowns does show is that once ended the virus spreads like wildfire so natural immunity and the vaccine are the only controls that work ,we should be eternally grateful for the work our scientist's did. Happy New Year 😊😊

Well well well the locals here in NZ are loving the news that Jacinda Arden has resigned as PM. Very unhappy with her covid control measures that the UK and other European countries plauded her over.

It's the Daily Mail who are an exemplar in twisting facts that would make a contortionist wince, to suit an agenda. Headline:Hated NHS policy made 'no difference' to Covid infection rates, study finds Article:Infection rates didn’t soar when mask mandates were removed in NHS facilities during the middle of an Omicron surge. Experts today said the findings did not mean face coverings are ‘worthless’. But they called for ‘rational and proportionate’ masking policies in hospitals during future Covid flare-ups because the benefits are ‘at best, modest’.

Some of us are still getting covid jabs as I think the virus is still around Fair play to you. I have had one yet. The virus will be around for as long as governments spend money on 'vaccines'. You still masking, washing your hands every 5 minutes and maintaining 2metres, or just the jabs? There's some nasty bugs(coughs) around at the moment I notice.
