To suggest Rovers fans should watch concerts outside of Bristol based on lining SL's deep pockets is quite frankly bizarre.
I haven't been there since the place had a Park End and an East End, but if I ever wake up one morning trapped in my 70s bubble and find that the The Sound of Philadelphia has made a comeback and there is a concert there headlined by Teddy Pendergrass I'll be buying my tickets....

I agree with the sentiment “what option do we have”
It’s the rosy cheeked tax exiles method of operation. He’s achieved great financial success in growing a brand at whatever cost whilst having a very close eye on strangling the life out of the opposition. Nothing new there in business and if he’s comfortable in doing that good luck to him, that’s business.
In the process Bristol Rugby Club no longer exist the Bristol Bears Franchise do and they now play in red. Will they be successful? Of course they will, they have massive financial clout. Will it effect us? Yes, there’s only so many sporting pounds to go around in Bristol.
Same with C££y 82, will they eventually become successful? Yes it’s inevitable. Will that impact us, again yes.
So what do we do? Moan that our owners don’t give us money they don’t have whilst we complain that we don’t sell out to non existent buyers. The nonsense that’s been fed to the gullible local media has be laughable. It’s all been a destabilising ruse made up by disgruntled previous members of the club. All the time the club withers on the vine in the decaying, outdated stadium.
Will we compete with C££y again? Seems unlikely while the exile is there. What do we about it? Work out what makes us unique and start selling that, big time. Make our own brand. AND forget the nonsense of a new stadium and make the best of what we have, properly. Fans say the benefit is only in a new stadium but imagine the excitement if we built a 3000 seat South Stand with a nice big bar in it. The first brick structure for seventy years at our own ground.

To be honest it is "Bizzare" to suggest Rovers fans would ever think of going to an event at Ashton that 100% is a fund raising exercise for 1982 Ltd.
There are plenty of other options to see anyone who plays there.

Got to admit I never gave it much thought to after reading this thread, but yesterday after parking up we were walking up one of the side roads that lead up to the Gloucester Rd & family came out of a house decked out in Bristol rugby gear .Then walking up to the Mem a pretty full double decker bus with Ashton Gate stadium displayed on the front went pass & a couple who sit close to us who are Rovers season ticket holders and also Bristol bears fans were not in their seats yesterday , so I would imagine having the 2 sports on the same day does have an effect on attendances.

It's something that is out of our control, it's not like we can complain to the competition and markets authority.
I'm sure it does have a small affect on our crowds and the only way we can mitigate that is giving floating fans more of a reason to attend our games.
Then it comes down to that age old chestnut that we need better facilities to compete and yeah nothing is going to change soon on that front.

There are plenty of other options to see anyone who plays there. This is a ludicrous post. The Killers are playing in Norwich, Manchester, London, Falkirk, Coventry, Southampton and Bristol. Few of the gigs are on Saturdays. Are you seriously suggesting I should drive hundreds of miles and possibly have to stay overnight rather than 15 after work on a Tuesday. I’m also a teacher so time off isn’t realistic for the majority of those dates. As much as I dislike it I’ll be going to Ashton to see my favourite band.

Or you could just drive to the Mem, and put the Killers on your car stereo, have a dance in the car park, and for every beer you drink donate 8 quid to BRFC. Bring a friend to jostle you occasionally for a more authentic experience.

The fact is Lansdown has cashed in on our councils total inability to deliver an arena in Bristol. Bristol is in the dark ages compared to other big cities. When it comes to delivering anything, all our Mayor is interested in is stupid vanity projects like an underground system and paying shed loads of cash to consultants to carry out a study which ends up saying the council can’t afford it.

I will never step foot in that stadium unless Rovers are playing, and that includes concerts so you can imagine my distress at not being able to see the Spice Girls there recently. Gutted I was.. As others have said you are helping Lansdown (and therefore City) by paying money to visit the place. I’m going to watch The Killers there in the summer.. Can’t really do much about putting money in their pocket when all Rovers can manage is a a one man band in the bar. I would watch it at a stadium owned by Rovers if I could.
I watched the Killers live in Vegas. Much better walking away from the gig down the famous LV strip in comparison to the sh** infested Ashton/Bedminster.
enjoy anyway, unlike many bands they are amazing live.

You should walk to Falkirk just to make a statement.
