The plans they just released. Released to who there's no mention of them on here, the OS, nor the Bristol Post website? Will tomorrow be D Day when S Glos produce their weekly new planning applications list? We were talking about the sh** and how long it had taken them. I wish we had just released plans lol

Hi all Newbie here but have been reading Gas chat for a while now. Just thought I would add my two pennies worth regards the new family stand as I and a mate of mine plus our kids have purchased season tickets in the stand. Yes I agree it’s not the best looking and it’s given my city mates even more amunition to wind us up but as for Match day experience for us as parents and the kids it was bloody brilliant! The view was great and the kids can’t wait to go to the next home game which is what it’s all about really.. We have been in the Southwest and Southstand for the last few seasons but they come nowhere near the experience we had on Saturday. I have never heard the kids get so involved with the singing! ( Big thanks to the Thanchers end for starting things off) We even managed to get a couple of pints indoors in the new east stand bar before the game which we have never managed before as the new Thatchers bar is always rammed.. I firmly believe this is temporary for a reason and if the club has built this stand just as a temporary measure to attract more families until something more permanent is announced then we are more than happy to sit in it. I don’t give a Toss what the city lads are saying and I should be the one who is worrying the most as I have paid to sit in the stand. As far as we are concerned the mem is looking the best it has ever looked and the club trying to attract younger fans is the way forward as they are the future of our club. I Agree it would better if it was nearer the east stand but before any petitions are started how about getting the views of the people who are sat in the stand 1st. UTG 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️

Yes, the petition is straight-forward. Take the stand down as it is utterly ridiculous and makes us a laughing stock. It was built in a day and can be removed simply enough. I take that you won't sign it, but many thanks for your consideration and measured response. In my considered opinion i think the stand is fit for purpose and is very adequate for the use intended Yes it may look a joke to some people but i bet the 100 or so on Saturday where very happy to be out of that rain regardless how bad it looks . i would have ------------------------- Sept 20, 2018 15:29:54 GMT 1 Henbury Gas said: I give the latest addition to our tents Chuffing joke of a "Stand" ------------------------- Someone's confused

Whilst we have fans like you Daniel who can’t separate the owners of the club from the club and swallow and happy clap at everything they do we will always be third rate. Maybe I was like you about Bradshaw and Flook, probably I was but blindly keeping the faith gets you nowhere and gives sh** owners the space to f**k it up and get away with treating our club and it’s fans with contempt. I’ll tell you what is a joke, it’s the succession of owners we’ve had (Dunfords excepted) who’ve taken us backwards, who’ve presided over our big city club with massive potential and seen those we used to consider our peers like Swansea, Cardiff, Reading, Brentford, Bournemouth, Rotherham, Millwall go watering past us not to mention the likes of Burton, Fleetwood and Doncaster all of whom have grounds better than ours. its also a joke that we have worse facilities for spectators than we did 50 years ago. Think on that. How many clubs can say that? This new stand would have been laughed at in 1958 let alone now! When you’ve been through as many bad owners as I have maybe just maybe you’ll be a little less forgiving. Edit. Also a moderator has just called a fellow fan who he doesn’t agree with a f**king idiot. Is that a joke of a post too? So in your considered opinion what "type" of owner you would like and can you name any currently owners of clubs like you desire ? I'll give you one Stephen Lansdown The same Stephen Lansdown who wanted to invest in Bristol Rovers before taking over that shower of sh** south of the River, but was rejected out of hand by the then "caring" board of Bristol Rovers. Or Would prefer somebody like Mike Ashley ? all mouth and Trousers but one of the best Business Brains in this Country. No I much prefer the group of Investors we have who want to progress this club to a SUSTAINABLE future There is no such thing as "sustainable" football club, even Liverpool are £400 million in debt, and clubs on the continent are worse. Then non league clubs they all have owners who stump up cash. And Rovers will never reach any higher than this league until they have a ground that is able to produce substantially more money than the Mem, which I suspect has reached it's limit. Many years ago GD told me that Rovers needed 9,000 every game to break even. Now look more background staff and players than we have ever had before, I suspect that that 9,000 figure is more like 16,000. I have accepted long ago that my Dad was right and I was wrong

The original intention was to have a family stand with a capacity of 342 - just about double the size of this 'new thing' . As late as August a club statement was mentioning a delay (where have we heard that word before) due to construction issues as the stand was of a "bespoke construction, is more complex and involves the manufacture of new roofs". If this had been delivered and installed where it was originally meant to be, most supporters I'm sure would have been delighted - but no - cheap and nasty rag ass Rovers prevails. Clearly they didn't have anywhere near the take up of season tickets they were hoping for, otherwise why have they settled for something half the capacity of what was originally intended. IMO they deserve every bit of criticism they're getting over this - but in some people's eyes they are the new Messiahs and can do no wrong. I can only assume that the only people delighted with this thing are the few that have seats in it and are prepared to accept mediocrity - but it's not what they originally paid for. Take the effing thing down - reimburse the few that have bought tickets - admit you've cocked up and move on. I guess the only consolation in my eyes is that this thing is staring the owners in the face every time they sit in their box.

Really, you think uncovered standing is better than covered seating in a stand that isn't as aesthetically pleasing as you hoped?
Bunch of snowflakes. It's clear to me that the club needs to show that it can be reasonably financially stable on it's own before we will get any significant external investment, and that's what the club is trying to do. Not good enough for you 'I want it all and I want it now' people.
The problem here isn't the stand. The problem is that the club isn't communicating well.

Sorry, but you are taking absolute BS and you clearly have too much time on your hands. You might not like it but it's there now and serving it's purpose to the customers who have paid to sit in it. You don't cone to the Mem on a match day to look at a bloody stand you come to look at what's happening on the pitch. Just get over it FFS.
