Out of curiosity, were you saying the same thing about the midfield a couple of weeks ago when O.Clarke had just put in 5 motm performances on the trot? ollie Clarke has been good for us this season but he isn't a creative player where lines is and even though ollie Clarke has been good he isn't the player who's going to take us up again and do well in the championship. i guess the team you're looking for is something like this?? lumley RB - Sweeney - Sweeney - LB Lines - Lines -Lines - Lines striker - striker

Well that was just unlucky as the commentators suggested, although what was our LB doing there anyway as isn't he supposed to be covering the left side of the pitch. looks like he utterly, totally panicked. badly out of position - there were 2 Vale players behind him, who he should have been marking. so much for experience eh?

Sit down with him and get some new terms agreed which are mutually beneficial to both parties. Kev, besides the contract side of things he's also having a knee operation Wednesday. We won't be seeing him again mate. Shame, but thanks for the info.

Darrell didn't seem too annoyed with Harris. These things can happen from time to time.
However, seemed fuming with the attacking lot. Even with Billy despite after scoring a goal.

Or he might be ? He's learning all the time and getting better season on season as most of our players have. Did we think Taylor would score 16 in half a season in league 1 when he was missing open goals in the conference ? Or that the likes of Lockyer Brown and Sinclair would cut it in league 1 when we were a conference side ? The reason we've won back to back promotions and got better and better is because our players have improved over time and continue to improve.

We have sold our best striker and not replaced him and we slag off the midfield? As much as I like them IMO Ellis and Rory are not good enough and are now exposed without the snakes goals. I hope we don't go through another post Lambert period when we didn't replace him and the rest is history. I hope DC is too smart for that.

My first game of the season, in my defence I do live in Edinburgh. it is difficult to gauge not having been at a previous game and with Partington having to go off so early, but having to put Sinclair out on the right seem to completely bugger us up. It meant Lines and Bodin had to do more of the hard graft so they couldn't be as creative and it meant no width on the right as Sinclair just came inside every time he go the ball and looked like he lacked the confidence to overlap when the situation was screaming for it. That said Vale were poor and we should have had enough to win the game. We really do not have enough quality up top to maintain our present position.

Go back 6 or so and we would have lost that! Vale ain't bad at home it's their away form letting them down!

I think Ollie has played the best I have seen him during this latest run in the team.
Linesy has creativity, when Monty came on vs Sheff Utd he livened it up and Bodin has real quality.
We do need a bit more pace as I would like to see us go beyond opponents back 4 and break quicker but I don't think these are bad players. I understand sentiment but we shouldn't worry about Championship quality imo, I think successful clubs tend to have players who can do a job at a level and then bring others in when they go beyond it.
Taylor was and is tosser but (know this sound ridiculous) it wasn't his goals that impressed me, it was his movement and how he brought players into game.
A confident Gaffers and Taylor were a handful as they complemented each other, made space and created chances. Harrison / Gaffers don't seem to gel and neither are playing that well, James I need to see more of before I can make a decision. you could try Bodin there but he causes problems cutting in and running at players, we could lose that if he is trying to chase a harrison flick on
Finally it was Harris' first game for while. There were plenty of moans with leads when he joined and I remember Michael Smith looking nowhere near good enough, nor did Jason Roberts to name another, they turned out ok.

Having now watched it to the accompaniment of Benny Hill theme tune to try and cheer me up ...have decided i still want to kick his arse !!
