Would it be logical to leave in January? He's in a team where he'll get game time as the no1 striker. He's on course for a 30+ season. If he leaves now it'll either be for a team panicking to maintain championship status, or he'll be battling to break into a championship team as he sits on the bench. £££££££££!!!!! Printing £ signs makes it all a bit vulgar; put yourself in his position: Footballers have a very short career, so of course money plays a big part but it's not everything, and he has a long time after he retires to wonder if he could have made it. He's Clearly happy here otherwise he would have made more effort to move on in the summer. Every season he has been with us this forum debates whether he can make the step up and each season he provides us with the answer so it's a natural progression. just remember Paul Elliott and that tackle by Dean Saunders, it could all be over for any footballer in a split second. I'm selfish and hope he stays though!

I reckon we will get the win. Our home form is right up there with anyone else in the country and the lads should be feeling confident after Monday's win. Harrison for Gaffney would be my only change. Harrison for Gaffney? Are you mad? Nope. Harrison is a far better player in my opinion. A run of games and he will do well, just as before.

Problem is EH is his inconsistency, that was probably is best performance since we regained our league status after starting a game but can he keep it going for a run of matches, or will DC even drop/rest him on Monday anyway?

If it was money why didn't he go in the summer? And wouldn't his price and options increase if he had a 30+ league one season behind him? Think it's more likely, if he leaves at all, that he'd go in a summer. It seems the only offer he had in the summer was Oxford's and you sense we matched whatever they could offer or he'd have gone then? I hope he stays but we can't kid ourselves he's going to turn down a Championship club just to stay loyal to Rovers/DC. If he does go hopefully DC's lined up a decent replacement already.

Pleased for Matty played well , bodin was good , but Ollie Clarke played exceptionally well today best I've seen him play , personally think that's why our defence was so well organised due to Ollie breaking up eveything ! Well done all round lads ! Happy new year gas family !!!!!! Yeah totally agree with that 4-4-2 we need someone to hold back and I've got to admit I doubted Olly was the man to replace mansell but after the last two games I'm thinknget someone in as backup not to replace him. He was outstanding today.

I thought his end product today was pretty poor but by his standards in starting he actually looked up for it and tried so hard and chased every 50/50 down which was very pleasing to see. He's let us all down when starting so many times in the past but fair play he gave it everything today even though it wasn't really his day from an individual point of view I think.

Nothing new there then with our CF, but as long as we keep scoring I guess Gaffers & him must be doing something right.

Yeah totally , it was a Rory kind of performance from Ellis and that helped Taylor to get his goals. Maybe he's learning and growing a football brain in the sense that it's about the team and what he can bring to it and that'll be what helps the team and perhaps keep him a starting place. Rory was good when he came on too he doesn't win many headers but he shields the ball so well I can't remember a Rovers player ever chesting the ball down so well to oncoming the players in my years watching the Gas. It's so good that we've got two or even three (Easter) players that work well with Matty but I've got to be honest if we lose him in the window there's going to be a massive gap to fill.

There has to be it would make no sense for there not to be other clubs after him. The thing is, what Topper doesn't seem to undertand here is that we don't know what clubs were in for him and what goes on behind the scenes. Just because Oxford are the only ones we hesrd about doesn't mean nobody else was interested.

Anyone else think Monty's booking was a ridiculous decision by the ref? Looked to me like a blatant dive from the wombles player. I couldn't believe it was a free kick, let alone a booking.

Monty did catch him but I though he just clipped the ball as well. Rovers were arguing that Monty got the ball. If the ref didn't see the touch on th ball then it would have looked a clear foul. We were behind the linesman, he should have seen the touch.

the ref was Brett Huxtable, the truly awful ref who followed us around on the Conference like a bad smell (3 games).
As he was utterly out of his depth in the Conf I'm shocked that within 18 months he is already taking 'control' of lge 1 matches.

Also he booked Ollie Clarke for what looked like a foul by Moore. Potentially costly as that was Clarke's 7th and it seems unlikely that Moore will pick up enough for a ban.

Leadbitter was also blatantly caught late in the penalty area 1st half. Dreadful ref.
