Surely this should be merged with PaulPirates Shrewsbury away thread mods? “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." Matthew 7:7-8

Still find it hard to believe a football club would sooner turn fans away than sell them more tickets, as what's the betting Shrewsbury ground is only half full on Saturday, when we could have taken 2,000+?

We see it time and again though. I think most clubs would rather take the hit than have more away fans than home.

I doubt we'd have more than the home fans but you can bet 1,500 Gasheads will drown out the home fans singing anyway, assuming we play well.

Surely additional policing, catering, marshalllinh etc costs are the reason for not increasing allocation. Going over a certain threshold could bump them up to the point there's no profit to the extra receipts they reckon they'd get.

There is NO parking at the ground at all for away fans. There is a pub about 1/2 mile away that acts as a car park on match days. Charges a fiver i think then its limited as well I went to a match at Shrewsbury a few years back and did what I saw some locals doing, which was park in the nearby Park'n'Ride car-park for free and walk the short distance to the ground: Meole Brace Park and Ride. Postcode: SY3 9NB (Car-park shuts at 6:30pm I think.)

Here's an interesting question - what colours will we be wearing at Shrewsbury? will it be blue and white quarters or all yellow?

At £20 per ticket 500 extra fans would bring in £10,000 that would pay for an few extra coppers/stewards? Catering staff surely pays for itself if not why bother in the first place.

Yeah, unless they have to open a whole new section then the costs would go up gradually with the attendance making any increase worthwhile. I imagined their away stand must be 1,500 big which would make it impossible to increase without spreading over some home bits, but apparently Portsmouth took 1,620 a few years ago.

Just been to do a reccie. No obvious pubs anywhere near ground.Post code for Sat Nav is ;SY2.6ST.Situated near out of town TK Maxx store and Wye Vale Garden Centre.Shrewsbury is a gorgeous town, well worth a visit.Strangely no direction signs anywhere to ground which is on the 'English Bridge' side of town as opposed to the 'Welsh Bridge' side. you cannot park at the wye valley garden centre (Percy throwers) or on the retail park for more than 90 minutes, there are plenty of back street parking behind the pub and meole brace housing area oddly enough one of the roads is called stapleton road thats a good omen the pub normally charges a fiver other than this pub there is nothing else near the ground bring back gay meadow lol
